This needs to happen though for Bowles to be fired after just 2 years. I'm all for continuity but he has been terrible this year.
Bowles is not capable of coaching an NFL team. He's soft, he's emotionless and clueless. I think it's time to get rid of this coaching staff. Chan Gailey is horrible too. This team is garbage....AGAIN!
Chan was not that bad here in Buffalo as HC. He got the bum rap considering he had Fitz and half a receiver (he was literally injured half the time both were here). I see no way possible he'd be any worse than Bowles. None. He knows how to keep Fitz serviceable but ran a much tighter ship.
It's not like the guy doesn't have talent on his team. This comes down to practice and preparation...or lack there of. I'm with you, honeymoon is over. This has been such an epic meltdown that I think we all understand what his ceiling is. No upside to speak of in Bowles.
Agreed. I've defended him in the past ... but if he's so clueless on the sideline that he can't even recognize four down territory, we might as well fire him tomorrow. There's no fixing stupid.
D and play clock management is just terrible. I can't believe how conservative he is. Gailey made a few bad calls but Forte is gaining less yards per week. Man. If they don't rally soon it's just going to spiral down.
Sorry guys but we're playing really good competition, the second half we'll beat up on a bunch of teams, probably win 7-8 games, Bowles will stay and we'll get a middling 1st round pick. The Steelers moved the ball at will against the Jets, 4th and inches, down 2 scores with 7 minutes left and Bowles punts, lol I couldn't believe it, I still can't.
We'll probably spend the top 5 pick on something like a running back or some other position that isn't going to change the direction of the team. Either that or we'll draft a position that we DO need, but that player will probably end up being a bust. If he isn't a bust, he'll still be relegated to 2nd or 3rd string, never given a shot, traded after two or three years, and have a Hall of Fame career for some other team. Meanwhile, we'll pick yet another defensive coordinator to be our head coach. He'll prove to be ball-less on offense, and also very inept on defense, as his success with his last team was due solely to the talent of the players and had almost nothing to do with his talent as a coach. They need to stop with this "defense wins championships, so we need a defensive coordinator" bullshit. A good coach should be able to be either an offensive or defensive coordinator. Let's just get a guy who is right for the job. Someone who is aggressive and who knows the entire game.
Without going back to see ... was I the only one screaming at the screen when we were happy going into the locker room down 14-13 with 40 seconds left and a timeout? Can we fucking TRY to get in position for a momentum changing FG?? It's bad enough shitting away the lead at the end of the half. How about not leaving the field like a bunch of pussies? You can bet your life any decent team in this league tries to put 3 points up before the half.
As bad as Bowles was, I'm seeing too much blame for him and not enough for Mac. I don't think any coach short of BB could have won this game with this roster.
The offense, besides Fitz, is good enough to win games. We've got a lot of injuries to the defensive backfield, but that's more than a year's worth of work.
Mac spent a fortune on the secondary a year ago. If that money were spent well, the secondary wouldn't suck right now.
Mac gave us what we all wanted. Revis back, a true #1 WR, and signed our top DL. It was flashy but short-lived.
