I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who feels this way about Familia. I'm not glad to know it's true about him.
I don't know how y'all aren't mad. I'm furious..I'll never get those 3 and a half hours back and I got work in 3 hours. Guess it's time for a nap...
No, I'm not mad either - this team had no business being here when 3/5 of the rotation went down (and the "extra" guy never came up) and they lost 3/4 of the planned infield for the season as well. The problem is that Familia will only be worse next year (first prediction for 2017) and Cespedes will probably be gone. Rooting for the Cubs' misery to continue at the hands of a western team, whether it's SF or LA.
I can't root for the Giants after this; can't root for the Dodgers who shit the bed against the Giants and could have knocked them out the last series; and can't root for the Nats. That leaves only the Cubs to root for in the NL for me.
That umpire was like the worst ball/strike umpire I've ever seen. Noah was amazing. Familia record is so misleading. Almost every game with him he's navigating traffic that he himself put on. Unless he has a couple runs cushion I never feel comfortable when he's pitching.
That empire was atrocious on both sides. I really hope Reed becomes the closer for this squad. Did you see how calm, cool, and collected Reed was with the bases loaded in that pressure situation? He has ice in veins. No emotion whatsoever. I'm rooting for the Blue Jays or Red Sox just because it'll piss off the Yankee fans I work with. They talk shit all the time about the Mets and are absolutely ripping into me this morning. I can't root for any team in the NL.
Admit it, you thought Murphy was going to hit a three-run homer against Kershaw to win the series for the Nats, just like I did.
According to Jon Heyman Cespedes is going to exercise his opt-out clause. No surprise there. Supposedly two GMs predict he'll be looking at a 4-year $100 million contract. I wouldn't pay any amount for him, but a contract offer like that is IMO a no-brainer for the Mets. Of course, we are talking about the Wilpons here. http://www.todaysknuckleball.com/in...heyman-cespedes-will-opt-mets-remain-picture/
Apparently Bartolo Colon has signed with the Braves. It is apparently only for one year (the Mets would certainly not go for two years, but neither did the Braves), and by all reports the Mets were aggressively pursuing him. Perhaps he figured that he wouldn't get many starts this year, and he clearly wants to get 11 wins to break Juan Marichal's career record for a Dominican pitcher, but the Braves had the lowest slugging percentage in baseball in 2016, so it's hard to see them as a place to rack up wins. Did anyone hear reports about Colon leaving being a possibility?
