Not so sure last year's "success" was really a blessing at all. We thought this team really had upper echelon talent and was ready for a big move in 2016. Nothing could be further from the truth as we've been shown so far. What was the real reason why we went 10-6 last year? Soft schedule evidently. We were playing a 4-12 schedule and we won 10 games. We thought we were ready for prime time. We thought we could run with the big dawgs. We thought wrong... This year as it turns out we're playing a 10-6 schedule and we're 1-3 trending down. Our first 6 games were against the big boys and so far, we've been competitive in exactly 1 game and that was the first game. We beat Rex but the Bills aren't exactly upper echelon are they. In fact, they're on our level and I get the distinct impression the next meeting won't be quite so easy. 2-5, 1-6 is not out of the question and it won't be solely on Bowles if that happens. He's a second year HC still learning his job. Bowles is also in the 2nd year of a rebuild even if the team won't admit it. This "win now" mantra is looking more like a pacifier to Marshall, Decker. That 12mil to Fitz more or less was for the Fanbase as it showed the FO/Ownership was willing to spend cash. Sounded good at the time but at this rate, Fitz is approaching 1mil per interception and his TD/int numbers are upside down. Not good....not good at all... Point being? We're rebuilding and we're not going to the playoffs. This team has shown it is not ready for the playoffs. This CS has shown its not ready either.
We won a bunch of close games with an older team against several opponents that turned out to be pretty weak. I'm not surprised at all with the regression, but pretty surprised how bad the defense has been.
Hard to win football games with a defensive minded head coach that has a terrible defense and currently the worst QB in the NFL. Can't do it men, can't do it.
You forgot Revis, if we are rebuilding how does he and his 39M guarantee fit into that? Idzik was rebuilding, this bum isn't. We might be broke, actually we are broke as we spent everything we had last year and we are going after cheap players for that reason but now because we want to be rebuilding..besides the Jets have been rebuilding since 1968.
The Bills shut out the Pats how many teams can say they have done that?Regardless of who the qb is they have been playing well and got abused. We are a complete discrace and if we lose Sunday the seasons over.We have a roster thats more then capable of making the playoffs but the coaching has been awful on all levels. The defensive and offensive gameplans and scemes are not working. To many turnovers and bad play calls are killing us ,Bowles needs to coach the game of his life on Sunday.
Are you basing your evaluation on the 10-6 record? If you are, you're falling victim to the mirage of a 4-12 schedule. That 10-6 was a REALLY SOFT 10-6 and you're seeing evidence of that this year..
Who the hell thinks win now and goes and gives fitz 12m? How the hell is fitz and win now spoken in the same sentence? Seriously, if any other team signed Fitzpatrick and said we are in win now mode the jokes would be non stop. Mac got caught between appeasing the masses and trying to build a sustainable roster. He should have told the billboard posse to fuck off and went with the kid qbs instead of dangling unattainable expectations to the people who can't handle a down year for the benefit of the future. Congrats fireidzic.com this what you asked for
Well... glad my expectations were 6-8 wins as soon as the schedule dropped.. I'm not hurting because we saw it coming... For me... the problem doesn't come from losing the games...the problem for me is losing games that we could have won... despite who the opponent is. Cinci was winnable. KC was oddly winnable. I was at the jets/hawks game... i was drunk as hell so i'll need to re-watch the game... but for the most part it was winnable until the turnovers came in to play.
Watched the entire game, THEN started drinking once it was out of reach. The Jets were competitive perhaps for the first 15mins. After that, it was going downhill fast for this team. The backbreaker came early with the passes to Graham that although well covered, were completed for long gains. It was then the Jet secondary realized it had no answers for Graham AND the supposed 1-legged Wilson was in damned good health. I think Bowles and Co. may have been scammed into thinking that. Not like it hasn't happened before. Again, 6-8 wins with this schedule I would consider a success too. 10-6 was a mirage that a lot of fans and Jets bought into. If the Jets go 10-6 while playing a 10-6 schedule, I'd be impressed. 10-6 playing a 4-12 schedule? Not so much. I don't mind the losing either, just keep the comedy out of it as there's not a damn thing funny about safeties tripping over their own feet, Lb's getting dragged down field on the back of the TE or a 12million dollar QB throwing million dollar Ints. This team is only marginally better than the 10-6 team that played the 4-12 schedule.
As a huge Pryor supporter im starting to see why people are upset... I kind of feel like Him helping Revis up top is taking him back to 2014.. too much coverage for him... that's not what he does. He makes his most impact as a free-lancing Run support safety (Box SS) .. him chasing big TE's down field stood out as an ugly part of his game in Louisville as well. I know Lee is a rook but he's got to get with the program. Maybe his duties are overwhelming... but i don't recall any TE's having their way with us AT ALL last year... now this year they are destroying us.. I was so pissed we made Jimmy G fake relevant again sunday.
Yeah, I figured on 6 wins. It's easy to know how weak a team is, just not easy to see the way the gets to the end of the season.
Coming into the season I thought we could start 3 and 3 now if the Bengal game went our way that was a real possibility ... that said coming off of these back to back games and what will be a disaster next Sunday I don't even think we beat the Browns ... its gonna be a rough year
Our schedule wasnt that soft .The schedule being easier when you go 4-12 is a myth that isnt even true.
That schedule was arguably the weakest schedule in team history, although it was comparable to the Favre season when we didn't even run a real offense, just let Lord Burt run his game until he realized he might accidentally make the postseason.
our finishing 10-6 has little or no impact on eh schedule...maybe 1 game? Expectations are nt costing us games this year. Itt has absolutely no affect. Our coaching staff sucking ass clot and our QB turning back into a pumpkin is the reason we are 1-3
