From you, I'll take that as a compliment. Anyway, you can find things to complain about any coach except maybe Belichick. Heck, you could have asked all your questions about Belichick before the Pats got going. First of all, you have no idea how the season will play out. Every year teams start poorly and rebound. In a couple months, I might be reading all these posts and laughing. And second, it takes time for a coach to get good. Unless the coach is a Kotite-scale disaster, you don't fire him after two years. Idzik was a special case because he couldn't work with Rex and no coach wanted our job after what Idzik did to Rex.
Yeah true. In the event we do need another coach let's bring in another circus act of a head coach that specializes in defense like the last 6 head coaches we've had despite the team's shortcomings being on the offensive side of the ball for the better part of the past 15 years. If we do get another coach we better get a guy with some god damn experience. Our past five head coaches have been first timers and things like clock management and timeouts have been fucking atrocious because of it.
Chan's playcalling is handicapped by one of the worst QBs in the league who is playing reckless and has no arm.....He hasn't been that bad to me, players need to execute and it starts with the bearded one behind center who isn't earning his money plain and simple. I will say he needs to stop running on 2nd and long every damn time.....most predictable thing I've ever seen from an offense Kacy Rodgers is struggling but it's Bowles defense and it's ultimately his responsibility....hard to say who exactly is at fault What I don't like about Bowles the most is how passive and lifeless the team is when we are losing in the 2nd half on the offensive side of the ball....Where's the hurry up? Where's the tempo? We drain playclock down to the end routinely down 2 scores or more and it's a joke. He also doesn't seem to call timeouts at the end of the half in order to get one more possession, another annoying thing
It figures that you would deflect and not respond to any of the points or question in my response. This is more than just "things to complain about." Again, that's a ridiculous thing with which to even respond. They aren't anywhere near the same thing. Yes, the team could rebound. We're not firing Bowles tomorrow. We're discussing what happens if things don't improve. If they improve then this discussion will be moot. Until things do improve and Bowles shows that he's learning and is fixing some of the problems, the discussion will be relevant.
+100000 Newsflash: Beggars Cant Be Choosy Or be deterred by any player or Coach based on who they previously Coached/played for SMH...So I guess some of you guys would turn down Shady Brady if he and his wife gotta live here and suddenly wants a view of Central Park????? This accursed franchise needs experience and brains Frankly I DO NOT CARE IF BB TOM C B BILLICK walks in the door we need passion brains experience not a guy on a learning curve !!!! We have a decent GM ...lets get a real Coach! My personal favorite JON GRUDEN ...love him on MNF Can motivate and dissect plays....won a SB with Tampa
Cloud nine if Rex resigns from Buff and comes home. Give him a 2 yr contract and force him to start Hackengerg. That gives us two more shots at the AFCCG.
Getting rid of Bowles after 2 years would be a bad mistake unless they are getting a proven coach, which I don't see happening. Look at the majority of SB winning HCs, many looked like crap the first couple of years but then turned it around, Weeb Ewbank, Tom Landry, Chuck Noll, Bill Walsh, Bellichick are a few that come to mind. If they get rid of him it will either to bring in a retread or another first timer, both would be the wrong decision.
No one will come to the Jets if you fire a HC after 2 seasons. Jets would be no better then the Browns. Knee-jerk reaction thread.
Sounds to me like he's been hanging out with ISmokePot and has been hitting the bong too hard and has fried his brain.
JV - the guy you quoted is usually wacky but I actually think Schwartz would be a truly awesome coach for this team. His system would be perfect for this defense! He would put Richardson inside next to Mclendon with book ends Williams and Wilkerson. Those 4 down lineman would be animals running stunts off each other all game. He would put Darron Lee as the middle backer. He doesn't do anything fancy with his secondary, not a lot of blitzing just really aggressive man to man at the corners with safety help. Tell the D-lineman to go after it and that D would be awesome. -Either way I agree with you I would like a coach with some experience. Problem is things like you mention: you don't like Schwartz's circus act stuff that he had in Detroit. Well no matter what if you hire a coach with experience that means some bad marks because they would've been fired at one point. So you have to move past some deficiencies. I am not in love with Schwartz completely or anything I am just saying. Oh- and I don't think Bowles will be canned or anything its just a hypothetical thing and thats what message boards are for
If the team were to hire yet another defensive coach, I'd probably want it to be Schwartz, but the circus thing would be a major concern for me. We were in process of cleaning up the circus mess that Rex left. I certainly would never want to go back to that. Before I would hire Schwartz, I'd make sure that was the mistake he had learned from and corrected.
The team feels like it needs a big time voice, but I like Bowles. Its just strange seeing a d-coordinator and DB coach specialist get out classed out there through a few games so far
