I disagree completely. I always have problems with punting when you have the ball on the opponents side of the field but I don't think 4th and 4 is too much different than 4th and 1 and I think the reward of going for it there highly outweighs the risk. The average starting field position in the NFL is ~the 30 yard line. They were at the 41. So even if they didn't get it they are only giving Seattle essentially 1 more first down then where teams start on average. But if you get the 4 yards? you are most likely scoring points that drive. Plus I already outlined the intangible reasons why they should've gone for it
bowles just beat Rex and buffalo is 2-2 because they played NE's 3rd string QB. They will lose in LA this week anyway
Easy to do after the start Ryan has had. Would have done it before the season....NO. Eli has a ring. Maybe he is better than luck, but at this point you are NOT mentioning guys that I consider franchise qbs. There are only 5-6 franchise qbs in this league Luck nor Ryan is one.
When Andrew Luck played under the tutelage of Bruce Arians he did very well. Chuck Pagano is a bum of a head coach, I know he had the cancer situation and I hope he recovered well. But Luck is now being handled by Pagano and Schottenheimer. That's all we need to know as to why he continues to be average and possibly regress. I would take Luck on this team in a heartbeat with Gailey as his OC. I'm so sick and tired of the retreads in the NFL, average QBs and average HC, being trusted with the keys to investments worth millions of dollars.
My only gripe with Bowles is his clock management and refusal to give safety help at times... Also a lot of miscommunication on defense.
Can somebody answer why Sheldon Richardson, quite possibly a top 3 talent at DT/ 1&3 teq, is playing OLB and shaded outside the tackle. We are literally wasting his talent.
There's a HUGE difference between 4th and 4 and 4th and 1, one you can 50/50 run or pass and is infinitely more makeable and the other's more like 90/10 a pass and an extremely low percentage play. And even making the first down and getting to the 37 doesn't guarantee points.
Because Rodgers has no clue how to be a DC, the jets need to go back to their 3-4 and let Mauldin, Jenkins, Harris and Lee make plays. Mauldin is rarely used anymore.
I think we'd get burned deep even more if Bowles were to tell his corners to press. Last year Revis was still playing at an very high level and Cromartie could at least cover somewhat. Neither is the case anymore.
It's not every play but yes. It's a fuckin waste playing him outside. They should just trade him if they aren't gonna use him right
4th and 4 isn't a 90/10 pass play. Obviously I'd rather have 4th and 1, I mean there's no arguing that, but they shoulda went for that. Oh and 37 yard line = points
Bowles wasnt ready to be a head coach and its becoming obvious. His lack of intensity is killing us....You never see him yelling or even looking mad.
well.. he certainly never looks too happy either. I think that's just him. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
There are some things I like about Bowles, but I just don't think he has what it takes to be a SB winning HC barring incredible talent, particularly a top flight QB. I think he is just too conservative by nature, and I don't think you can win big in the NFL like that anymore. I hope he proves me wrong, but its very rare to see a HC make wholesale changes to their approach, usually they are what they are. Im sure he can improve, but I don't think he can change who he is.
