I always wanted to get into hunting but then I realized that I'd actually like to eat the animal that I kill. So that kind of excludes deer and bear which are the most common hunting targets around here. Does anyone here hunt cows? I mean, BK is right across the fucking street.
got my last practice shots in before going out tomorrow morning. 6 arrows, all lung or heart. Good to go.
didn't see anything this morning. It's much more leafy and thick out there opening day this year and I'm in thick brush to begin with. I might wait for the leaves to thin out a bit before I head out again. I did finally pull the cards on my camera's. The stealth ran out of batteries in late spring/early summer. Hard to say for sure since I never set the date/time. The wild game camera actually still had juice. Bunch of doe on camera, no bucks, but that doesn't surprise me since I never saw them last year until the rut. I did also catch a pileated woodpecker on camera and a shitload of humming birds. lol. nothing exciting in terms of deer, but if I don't get a doe with the bow this year it's because I wasn't out there.
This is pretty cool, a 14 year old girl may have gotten the Nebraska state record for an Elk. http://www.omaha.com/outdoors/an-im...cle_e3076683-bb76-5e95-b6d9-bff1f230c93f.html
I am now, had to be out of town all weekend, took today of was going to hunt this morning run some errands and hunt the afternoon. long weekend killed me, slept in , will be out this afternoon though. damn that elk, that's my dream hunt.
so, nothing moving this afternoon. did have an absolute giant pop up on camera. first big buck of the year.
Got out for a few hours this morning. Saw a buck but he was behind thick brush and I couldn't even tell how many points - at least 4. He was sniffing and must have caught something on me because he quickly turned and headed the opposite direction. I friggen do everything to hide my scent too. My gear is all outside for a couple of weeks prior to the season, I shower with the hunting soaps and shampoos, I put field spray on and he wasn't even downwind - he was perpendicular with the wind direction. Maybe something swirled his way. Anywho, still too leafy out but they're starting to fall quickly now. I was surprised to see a buck this early, last year I didn't even see them on camera until the rut. Have only been out twice but haven't seen a doe yet, which seems odd.
Bad video quality. My brother downloaded the card and then used his phone to record the screen. Give me a few and i will post it
