Menace I hear you but the coach has scared me since that last game against Buffalo last year,,they were not prepared and came out flat in the biggest spot . Fast forward to this year and I know it is still very early in the season and he does not have "THE QB " as you said but our Defensive genius is still playing his corners 10 yards off the line of scrimmage something most of us have been yelling about since week 1 ! Along with the clock management ugh
The fallacy here is that people think Bowles comes up with the defense every week. Rex used to do that so we think Bowles does too. That is wrong. Kacy Rodgers comes up with the formations, the coverages, the adjustments.
So then Bowles sits on his ass and does nothing all week I guess. But you must have some kind of inside information or something since you know what Rex used to do and now you know what Bowles does.
At this rate we'll be flexed out of the SNF game. So we'll only embarrass ourselves 3 times in front of the whole country.
We lost out getting a QB under dip sht Idzik There might be some hope in Petty and Hack but whats going to help our Defensive Secondary????? Our first rounder Lee was meh imo major overhaul or this CS is a bust
Team may just need a spark. That year we brought in Chad for Vinny, Vinny wasn't necessarily playing awful. But a change st the position just changes the vibe. Unless we win the next two on the road. Idk, might be time to look longer term.
Except the spark's not going to come from Geno Smith. And it ain't coming in the next two weeks either.
Well i am not sure who the relief QB would be .......there are several forces at work. Fitz salary, veteran O players, AND you have 2 second rounders and a 4th rounder on the bench.... Do they skip over geno?????. If so, he is gone this offseason. Do they go right to hack. Oh boy, he surely did not look like he has any potential during preseason. Your left with petty who is currently starting rehab.... Its never a clear choice with this team and thats a product of poor and untimely drafting, focused drafting, and bad philosophy. Wish it was as clear as the cowboys - romo down, prescott in. Done. Little bit of luck involved too.
Here's something I posted on Jul 28 here in the Fitz IS re-signed thread: "This deal makes no sense to me. It makes no sense to pay him much of anything because he's not good to begin with and he will either crap the bed or get injured playing the schedule this year. I can't believe they couldn't do just as well this year with the other 3, see what they can do at least and pray someone emerges or get someone in the draft next year and try again. I can't believe they offered him *more* to sign when he had no other offers." and on Aug 2 in another thread: "Let's look at our wins: We beat the Colts at Indy 20-10, but the Pats beat them in Indy 34-20, and Buf beat them at home 27-14. We beat the Dolphins 27-14 and 38-20, but Buf beat them 41-14 and 33-17, while the Pats lost one game to them after clinching and won the other 30-7. We beat the Redskins 34-20, NE beat them 27-10 and Buffalo lost to them. We beat Jacks 28-23 but NE beat them 51-17, anb Buffalo lost to them. We beat the Giants 23-20 but NE beat them 27-26, while Buffalo lost to them. We beat Tenn 30-8 but NE beat them 33-16 and Buffalo beat them 14-13. We beat Dal 19-16 but the Pats beat them 30-6 and Buffalo beat them 16-6. We beat the Pats when they didn't have to win. We beat Cleveland when the Pats had to play (and beat) Pittsburgh 28-21. We had an easy schedule last year and gave up more points to some of those teams than NE or Buffalo did several times. This year's schedule is much harder, I don't see why our defense would be particularly good with one good vet gone and a bunch of rooks, and the offense isn't going to be anything like last year unless it's a weak opponent." I haven't changed my mind about any of that. The front office and coach say "win now" because they need to get people in the seats but there is no way this is a win now team because they just don't have the bodies. A big deal is made about a "talented team" by some people here but where is it? Compare the Jets with Marshall, Decker and Enunwa vs the Pats with Gronkowski, Bennett, Edelman, Amendola, and Hogan. Do we even have a reliable punt returner? The Pats have Edelman AND Amendola. We have a couple of good pass rushers in the defensive line but so what if the backfield isn't good and the pass rushing is only middlin, not great (In the first 3 games, Minn has 15, Pats 5, we have 9)? The previous regime decimated the roster, it will take years to rebuild it and Bowles deserves the time to do that. We can hope for 4-4 in the first 8 games and then go on a run, but this is not going to be (nor was it ever going to be) a deep-into-the-playoffs team, even if a miracle happened, they put Petty in and he becomes Carson Wentz. At least the Pats got smoked today, a truly odd performance. Ron
Petty still in rehab? Well I guess we are f*cked unless Mac finds us someone under a rock This Team still travelling in the Widerness...looking for the promised land Sorry to say that tho Fitz has a beard he is not Moses
your probably not winning a superbowl without a great qb... but how many of those are there? plenty of teams win with average or worse qbs. the pats are 3-1 with bresett and garrapolo. chiefs win a bunch of games with alex smith. Flacco? osweiller? dak prescott? Sam Bradford? Christ the rams are winning with Case keenum! not having a good qb isnt a reason to lose games. maybe you dont win 11+, but its not an excuse to lose week to week. its also not an excuse to not have your team prepared, not manage the game or clock, make no adjustments, and flat out get outcoached on a weekly basis
