Yea and if he turns out to be not what they are looking for, they cut him with 0 money owed. The guy is making 2 mil TOTAL between this year and next. If your issue is the money owed, then you're just searching for reasons to dislike the signing.

I hope this works out as good as the last ex-Tampa TE we got. Even though The Souljah sucked, he was still a lot better than what we have now.

That's fine. I understand your objections, even if your reasoning is flawed. We don't have any receivers at the TE position, and we could have certainly used on this past Sunday. THAT's the reason the TE position has been ignored over the last couple of years. Gailey has shown that when he has a TE that can catch, he uses him.

ASJ has a ton of talent, can block, can catch, has prototypical size and great speed for his size. IMO it's worth the risk. If he doesn't work out this season, all it will cost the Jets is perhaps a little bit of a headache and distraction and $600k. If he works out, the Jets will be getting a Gronk level talent and they'll be set at the TE position for the first time in years, if not decades.

As the articles and several posters have pointed out, Tampa is a mess right now. There's little or no leadership there, either from the CS/FO or team. Maybe the Jets won't be able to reach him and get him to see that he's squandering his talent, but if they can. This will be a steal. It will fill one more hole/need, will help the rushing attack, will give opposing DCs one more thing to worry about, and if Petty or Hack work out, will give them a great weapon.

No one knows what he's gonna do, not even ASJ.

$600k this season and $1 million next. That's peanuts, and they can cut him at any time this season and not have to pay him but a fraction of that $600k.

and like I said...waste of money on this scum. He can't even learn the playbook, argues with coaches, has a 50% target to catch ratio and drives drunk.

I didn't support the move, but now that he's a Jet, I'm hoping he can become something great.

Just saw that ASJ was tampa's second round pick so if we can't keep our own round 2 gems, just go get another team's round 2 trash. LOL

If it works out, ASJ has enough talent and potential to lock down TE for years for us. Brilliant no risk move. Nearly no risk. We have players who've been in his shoes that can big brother him and his talent will do nothing but improve our offense.

Wow. It must be nice knowing everything and being able to know the future. When will we next win a SB?

  12. He's at the very least a true Y tight end who can block & catch.

Before D's could count on the fact that Kellen Davis would be on the field solely for his below average blocking ability & he was a nonexistent threat as a receiver. ASJ is instantly a better blocker & is a legit target.

If he comes in & can make just acouple plays when teams try to outflank Jet receivers & abandon the short or intermediate seams..it will change the entire way defenses are forced to play the Jets.Regardless of how many plays ASJ makes. He just has to make acouple.

Beyond him needing help for the drinking & I hope he gets it..My biggest concern w. this guy is durability. He was a decent player when healthy in Tampa..he was just never consistent b/c he couldn't stay healthy.

What confuses you about knowing what he's already done and is documented? This is generally something your taught in school on how to "know" about past events and predict future events.

Yes. I read that Marshall has been engaging with him extensively and expressed a sincere desire as well as a measure of personal commitment to help ASJ and provide him (along with other team members and staff) with all the support he needs to get his life and career on the right track so he can fulfill his potential and not squander what might be his last chance in the NFL. Marshall said that he very much sees/is reminded of himself by ASJ in terms his talent/ability and the personal issues he struggled with earlier in his career but was able to successfully overcome. ASJ couldn't have a better teaching example/role model than Marshall to guide him. Zero risk with huge upside here IMO.

Big-talented-young-guy that has 2 years left on a contract netting less than 2mil.

He doesn't poses the ability to cause a locker room threat.

Worst case he costs us a roster spot for a few weeks. Best case he solidifies our most deficient position and we have him on the cheap for the next year and 13 games.

Even after what you said earlier in this post...That's called upside or potential win.
ZERO Risk!! Remember when People were bitching that Marshall was a headcase? Now they want him to marry their sister.

Correct me if I'm wrong but we were # 3 In the RedZone last year... with pretty much the same offense.. I think you have to practice to be #3.
Being #28 right now Isn't from lack of but something else...oh yea.. Fitz looking like shit.
