Actually I was surprised to see this pick up. It makes more sense looking forward (2017, etc). Chan has like zero plays in the playbook for a TE, let alone 30 plays for a dominating TE. Teams spend all training camp running plays and learning the playbook, so it will be interesting to see what plays Chan can draw up and teach the team on short notice. I assume Jenkins role will grow throughout the season, a play here and there, but 2017 and beyond is when Chan can really use him.
Well >cough< this is gonna be interesting: http://www.nj.com/jets/index.ssf/2016/09/watch_dui_video_of_jets_austin_seferian-jenkins_te.html Ron
Our tight end position is kind of a chicken or the egg sort of argument. Did we not get TEs cause we don't use them? or do we not use them because we don't have any good ones? The effort to get Enunwa on the field at H-back/ TE, suggest to me that it's the later. ASJ is a big athletic target, and coming in well under 1mil making him worth the due diligence IMO.

Even more surprising is that they kept the other 3 TEs already on the roster, and waived a LB. That puts us at 4 TEs and 4 QBs. I'll be curious to see how things work out with Sefarian-Jenkins and if they'll wind up dropping any of their other TEs.
Big topic of conversation earlier today. http://forums.theganggreen.com/threads/jets-claim-seferian-jenkins.87300/
Hasn't he ever heard of Uber? My guess he ends up getting cut before he can make a huge difference. But it would be nice to have a big target at that position.
Was an incredibly dumb decision to get rid of him. Must've rubbed people the wrong way because he's definitely a talented player that has potential.
He's a TE and Jameis Winston was his QB... of course he had alcohol issues... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Because Amaro can't carry Sefarian-Jenkins jock talent wise. Amaro is a pussy, and a clumsy one at that.
Thanks. I wasn't sure when the claim and news release took place, but looked first but could find no other thread except in the NFL forum where we were discussing the pros and cons the other day when he was released. I have the OP of the above-referenced thread on ignore and that's why I didn't see the thread. I wondered why nobody else had posted about it.
I sure hope not and I seriously doubt it considering we have the worst TE group in NFL history. ASJ is no risk whatsoever, if he continues to be a donk he gets cut. If he realizes this might be his last chance we have a serious upgrade at our worst position.
