Just curious what you think the direction of this team should be if we go 2-4/ 2-5/ 1-6. This is why I was so pissed off after that Cincinnati game, everyone said week one over reaction. With that said, we're 4 point dogs at home v. Seattle, @Pitt @Arizona, Baltimore (3-0) at home. Do we think this team has the make-up to go 8-1 down the stretch? With December games against NE twice, and Indy? If we're 2-4 I think we have to start thinking about Bryce Petty here for long term. We've already lost to KC, Cincy, two good football teams that will be in the hunt in the AFC for their divisions, and definitely the wildcards. I hope everyone laughs at this thread in 3 weeks, and the Jets are sitting at 4-2 with a home game against Baltimore, but I've been around the game too long, and watched the game closely for too long to think that this team is going to be any good. Does anyone really feel good about Seattle?
i never feel good about anything the jets do so that's my gig..... that being said there are tickets to sell and veterans on this team that will say don't mail it in but they know the deal. short of injury i wouldn't look for petty/smith or anyone else for that matter until mathematically eliminated which likely wont be until late november/december, if we see similar results like yesterday. but even then, fitz salary could keep him in there, regardless. but hey - maybe there will be a surprise in here or maybe not. but knowing the jets they will keep you on the edge and trap you into some sort of false hope, and then lose a stinker to some crap team - finally convincing the fans that its onto the 2017 draft.
At 1-6, I'll be rooting for a tank and hope we actually are in a position to take Kizer or another top QB... but the second half of the schedule is extremely easy, so I wouldn't be shocked by a 5-3 finish. We have a solid roster, but the QB play is just going to anchor us out of the postseason. We're never going anywhere with Fitzpatrick anyways.
At 1-6, I think Mac will tell Bowles that Petty should play. At that point, he needs to worried about 2017 and the long term viability of the QB position. I don't think DeShone Kizer at 1-3 is a legitimate prospect. I've watched him play every play this year and I'm not impressed. I want to see what we have in our 2, and 4th round picks.
At 1-6/2-5 i would hope we are looking at the other qbs. We should have been from the start but mac/bowles got suckered in by fools gold.
I wonder how much mac is invested in hack, if we are sitting top 3 and have a chance at a top qb does he take it?
Currently 1-2 and looked like shit but so have a lot of the other teams you mentioned. Arizona just got beat 33-18 by a team the Jets just beat, Pitt got beat down by a rookie yesterday 34-3, Baltimore beat the Bills, Browns and Jags and none of those in convincing fashion, Seattle is 2-1 after playing the Phins, Rams and 49ers. Can't claim anything about how the Jets look after yesterday but the murderers row they were looking at to start the season now looks anything but. But, if they are 2-5 or 1-6 might as well see what they have in Petty and give Geno a few games also. I'm not a Geno backer but if the playoffs are out of touch might as well give everyone some play.
I agree with the exception that Arizona, Pitt were both on the road, and its tough to win in the national football league on the road. Baltimore is 3-0, with its next two games at home v. OAK & WASH. Seattle always starts slow, and they came on yesterday v. SF. This schedule sucks, but we already knew that. Coupled with conference losses to Cincy, KC, and potentially Pitt & Balt... By Halloween, it might be time for Bryce.
I don't think they can even think of passing on a guy with Kizer's talent. He's being compared to Winston, who the Jets likely would have taken had they picked first in 2015. But even if they decided to pass on him, they'd receive a monster package for him if they traded down . But I don't really see the Jets being worse than the Browns, Niners, or the Jags
I really hope Christian Hackenberg is good. I feel like we're stuck in a rut with Fitz at QB; no future potential and not good enough to win a title now. I just want someone to get excited about and if it's not Hack we have to wait even longer for development.
Given the schedule there's a very good chance the Jets are 2-6 at the halfway point. looking at the second half of the schedule I'm thinking 4-4. I think the Jets end the season with a 6-10 record, maybe 7-9... (edit, the second half prediction is based on if the Jets are 2-6 or 3-5 at the halfway point).
Cards, Seahawks, Steelers and, particularly, the Ravens haven't exactly lit it up so far this season. There's rarely any cause for Jets fans to be afraid of the opposition. The worry always is which Jets side turns up. If 6intpatrick lines up at QB and the D can't stop a nosebleed, we're fucked even if we are facing the Browns.
Can't we wait until after the first six games to start getting upset about a possible record? The Jets are 1-2, not 2-4 or 1-6. One game at a time, people. Arizona has looked weak so far, and Pittsburgh got lit up yesterday, and Seahawks have a tough early east coast game at Jetlife. Any given Sunday. The Jets could win the next 3. Or lose them all.
Seattle is thinking about a very beatable team right now too. We may have some talent but this team is also very capable of having a top pick next year
Instead of the Jets game, I got to watch the Steelers get creamed yesterday. Now I've seen the Cardinals, Steelers, Texans, and Panthers all get creamed. The Bengals are 1-2. The Ravens have inched by three of the worst teams in football. I think the idea that we need to win 11 to get in is silly. I think outside of 3-4 winners and a handful of real stinkers, there are going to be 20 or so teams fighting for 10-6 or 9-7 with three weeks to go. Maybe with our Coach being all pissed about how S**ty we planned and how S**ty we executed this week, we'll get our S**t together for next week. Then we'll be on our way to fighting for that 9-7 line, just like all everybody else.
if you look at a season as 4 quarters, hopefully we get out of this first tough stretch 2-2. then take it from there.. Seattle should be the only focus now. hopefully Bowles makes some adjustments from yesterday, maybe even promoting some new players into the starting rotation.
If we are 1-6 with two games yet to play against the Patriots we need to clear the bench and let the young guys play. 8-8 isn't going to get us into the playoffs this year.
