What I meant is he's potentially coming back from a serious injury so I doubt he'll be mobile enough in the passing game. When healthy no doubt he's a top receiving threat. I don't see it this week.
Jamal Charles only did scout team work in practice today. Reid said it's too early to tell if he'll play Sunday.
Regardless, Andy Reid doesn't employ runningbacks that can't the ball out of the backfield. Whether it's Charles or another guy with a little lesser speed, he's been disguising the shortcomings of his quarterbacks for over a decade with this system.
Would be nice for Charles to sit out but at the age of 29 coming off yet another serious injury I highly doubt he has an impact againt this Jets defensive front. I'm more focussed on K.C's offensive line. They were without both starting Guards against Houston. Anyone know of their injury status heading into Sunday? Against this Jets defensive front K.C having backups at both LG & RG could spell trouble for Alex Smith considering he's already been sacked 7x.
As far as that speedy kid returning ko's & punts, when a team has a true threat to go all the way the other team rarely kicks it to him. On ko's teams kick it out of the EZ, and on punts they settle for a shorter punt aimed at the sidelines. As far as a WR, even the Jets have had super fast little rookies that for some reason or another never translated into a true deep threat. Not sure why, maybe because it's too hard for QBs to find and calibrate their routs when all hells breaking loose. With big strong WRs like Marshall QBs can just launch the rock and let their WR go get it. Can't do that with tiny guys, they'll get beat every time. Bubble screens, short slants, etc, and reverses is probably the biggest threat. I ain't skered.
We're running into the Chiefs and Seahawks at the perfect time..their offenses fucking STINK. Not to sound cocky but they aint beating us with just field goals... idc how good their defenses are.. Our WRs are too big and quick plus Forte being a recieving threat as well.. we can really stick to our game plan and find that mismatch to exploit. winning these next two could be HUGE... esp. since we lost a winnable one already.. imagine being 3-1 playing Cinci Buf Seattle & KC and that one loss being at our own self-destruction (mainly Nick Folk but other things too like the breakdown on defense for the AJ Green bomb...whatever) That will have already exceeded my expectations to start the year. If we can pull these next two off i think we'll be high rolling to the playoffs..
Has nothing to do with anything, but it came up in my TimeHop as something I posted on Facebook 8 years ago and I got a good laugh out of it. Wonder what happened 8 years ago? Anywho, on topic,I think the keys for us are to throw away from Peters, generate pressure up the middle (both of their guards are injured) and force Smith to throw deeper than he's comfortable with. I'm curious to see what we do about Kelce, it looked to me like last week we had Darron Lee spying Tyrod Taylor quite frequently, perhaps he gets used in coverage on Kelce this week? I'm expecting big things out of Leonard Williams and McClendon this week. This is a game we should win if we are going to be taken seriously as a contender. I'm not too worried about Charles, because even if he's at 100% I don't think anyone will be running on us this year. My primary concern is turning the ball over; can't let Marcus Peters bait Fitz into INTs. Hopefully my soul won't be crushed again come Monday morning haha
As a fan I don't wanna get too far ahead of myself but heading into 2016 while looking at our 1st 6 games I predicted a 4-2 start. I still feel a 4-2 start is possible, especially if we win our next two games against K.C & Seattle. Which would mean @ 3-1 after 4 games we'd only need to split our next two games @ Pittsburgh & @ Arizona. If we're at 4-2 after an insane first 6 games regarding our schedule we could be looking at an 11-5 type of season and 12-4 wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility either. Splitting with N.E & sweeping both of Miami and Buffalo is also a must scenario. Starting off at least 4-2 and going no worse than 5-1 within the division and we'd be well on our way. O.k. I knew this would happen. Getting way ahead of myself only two games in. My only real goal as a fan is to see us improve to 2-1 @ K.C before hosting Seattle for a chance at 3-1 (to be continued).
Two games is way too small to conclude that KC and Seattle's offenses stink. I wouldn't underestimate either team.
Well.. Charles should provide a huge spark for them... i just don't know about his first game back vs an elite d-line... that is if he plays.. If we shut down their run as we should and make Alex Smith have to throw more than he usually does i like our chances. & I've watch seattle's two games since Russ is on my fantasy team... it's laughable. Real 2012 Jets-esque.
Expect a close game, In the NFL a call either way will decide it. Win or lose the Jets have enough to compete with the best clubs whoever they turn out to be. Long season, enjoy it, this can be a good one.
Despite not practicing Wednesday or Today, I expect Brandon Marshall to play. Did you watch Inside the NFL? He looks fine to me and in high spirits. Doubt he would look that way if he knew he was not playing.
