If I am in the Browns' FO there is no way I take a no. 1 pick and simply use it. There are WAY too many holes on that team and the risk/reward ratio is too high. Trade down, accumulate picks, and try to stock the team with some talent and depth for once.
Eh, they already have a ton of picks and if need be they can always trade the Eagles pick, which may be top ten, to accumulate even more assets. You don't pass up on a stud QB with the first pick. It's really early, Kizer of Notre Dame looks like he's a Winston/Mariota kind of a prospect. You can't pass on a guy like that .
Fair enough. I wasn't aware that they had already stockpiled picks. If that's the case then, yes, by all means snag a franchise QB. My point was mainly that it seems there are very few of those nowadays. With so few sure fire guys coming out, I feel like the Browns can't afford to waste a no. 1 pick on someone who may be a bust. I'd rather trade down for chances and try to fill multiple slots, while maximizing whatever value they can get. However, you're absolutely right that if Kizer is looking THAT good then they absolutely should go for it. For conversations sake, what if there isn't a clear no. 1 QB? What do you think they should do?
Last week vs the Browns he went 22/37 (59.4%), 278 yards, 2 TD's/0 INT's with a QB Rating of 101.0 during his 1st ever NFL start. Watching him tonight during his 1st road game @ Chicago he just looked really good during his first drive going 8 out of 9 (hit 5 different receivers) for 45 yards, converted a 4th down attempt and led his team to an opening drive FG (3-0 lead). I didn't know too much about the kid during his college career and still don't know too much but at 6'5/237 lbs he looks really, really good with a very live arm too. I understand he's played against two of the worst teams in Cleveland and tonight Chicago and still too early to say but maybe the L.A Rams should've gone Wentz over the hometown kid out of California in Jared Goff 1st overall?
He has some weapons in Philly but nothing like their days of players such as Desean Jackson, Jeremy Maclin & LeSean McCoy; and the kid still looks really good. What's impressive to me has been his command at the L.O.S as only a rookie. He's reading D's, calling audibles, killing plays etc. If I were L.A fans I'd wanna see what we have in Goff sooner rather than later because as of right now Wentz looks to be ideal for Philly.
On a side note... Watching this Bears game has me asking myself how could Chicago's front office allow both Brandon Marshall & Matt Forte get away during consecutive offseason's? No wonder why they've only scored 14 points against Houston and down 22-7 at home against Philly...
He hasnt played good teams yet but hes doing good. Ill reserve judgement when he doesnt play the browns and the bears. Sent from my SM-N930V using Tapatalk
What I can't understand is why Jay Cutler is still the QB? This guy is looking as bad as I've ever seen him. Fumbles, interceptions, bad throws and there is absolutely no fire in him. Chicago looks totally demoralized. Too bad they don't play the Jets this season.
Cleveland and Chicago could be two of the worst teams around but for what it's worth just seen that Wentz is now the 1st and only rookie QB to start off 2-0 without turning the ball over during their teams 1st two games. Kid has impressed.
I only watched the first half, but it looks like I may have been wrong on Wentz. didn't think he'd be competent until late late year two and really disliked the pick for the Eagles. He had a really storng half against a legitmate NFL defense. The Eagles coaching staff has done a good job so far too/
I would trade down, like you said if a top QB isn't eligible. From all accounts, this is supposed to be a star studded class, so that wouldn't be a problem. But if you have to wonder if the Browns FO will be there long enough to actaully use the picks they traded down for... Jimmy Haslem is the worst owner in the NFL, IMO.
two games against the 2 crappiest teams in the league and everyone in the world is crowning this kid. luckily I wasn't able to watch last night's game. I am sure Gruden slobbed the kid's knob all night long
haha, yeah of course Gruden was slobbing.. Wentz is the real deal tho. Coming from a lower tier of competition, i expected a bit of a transition period to the speed of the NFL, but he doesn't look overwhelmed at all. passing the eye test big time, which is encouraging this early in his career. really wish he was on the Jets..
Wentz would have been perfect in the AFC North. He's big, no stranger to cold weather, and has a touch of red beard.. would've fit right in. Cleveland missed a good opportunity..
Cody Kessler can make the Browns fans realize all is okay if he plays good this week. Odds of that: Not good.
Meh. He's only played 2 games. Teams will start to game plan for him once they get enough tape. If he lights it up then, then I guess you can say he's really the real deal. Sent from my BLU LIFE ONE X using Tapatalk
The Browns are just poor Management in motion Chicago is right up there with them Businesses thrive or die with who is running the show Thank God we have Mac and now we are looking past our dumpster fire days
Traded Bennet too, who had 100+ and a TD, as well as an incredible blocking performance last week, too... Does that team not want very talented skill position players? I don't get it. 324 yds and 4 touchdowns on 43 touches for the 3 former Bears in week 2. Chicago's offense definitely doesn't need production like that...
