Those plays don't happen with calvin pace at olb. That guy understood the game. I think jenkins will be that way too when he comes back. Mauldin concerns me though. He may never be more than a 3rd and long situational rusher
Yep. Mauldin was more concerned with his rush move than what the situation called for within the game plan. Miles breaking off from Salas also, after Stanford allowed Taylor free, compounding the breakdown. Getting beat is one thing, doing shit wrong over and over is inexcusable. Simple lessons are not attainable for some of these guys sometimes
After the draft, I'm not sure what some fans were talking about when stating that Darron Lee was too small for the NFL. He's about the same size as some of the NFL's premier tackling machines. Even with a limited amount of snaps thus far Lee not only ranks 3rd amongst all rookies in tackles (7 total/4 assists) but also leads the Jets defense in combined tackles. He's impressed. His speed, quickness & athleticism are as advertised but it's his play recognition ability in which has really stood out to me. So glad we went the route of selecting Darron Lee during the 1st round in order to re-vamp our Linebacking core with added youth, speed, quickness, athletsim, pursuit & coverage ability rather than taking a project QB in Paxton Lynch there. Between Harris, Henderson and Lee the Jets now have one of the deepest inside linebacking groups within the league.
To be honest, I don't even think we have the deepest linebacking group in the division. The Buffalo backups played like probowlers against us.
Looks like Jenkins is gonna play some. TB will prolly ease him in over the next couple of weeks to get him up to speed. But we'll get a look. Sucks that he got derailed like that. Looked like he was ready to start as an OLB at the time
I couldn't tell. Not when Forte started to run wild and Fitzpatrick had a career game. Buffalo's LB's didn't do much to stop any of the above.
They were the only ones doing anything of note on that entire defense. We had too many weapons. They were directly responsible for why Forte had to rush 30 times to barely reach 100 yards. Our linebackers have their niche and do their jobs well, but I don't think we have that kind of depth.
it was on the play were the Bills WR ran between revis and lee near the EZ then jumped over last guy to get in (maybe the Salas ply? I can't remember). When lee heads back to SL Bowles is jawing at him pretty good, a few times. Only showed it quick. Most pissed I;ve ever seen TB.
I like the speed infusion to our defense. Darron Lee is a nice compliment to our strong defensive line. Lightning to their thunder. On a side note, you mention being happy we passed on Paxton lynch. Denver's 6th round rookie qb Trevor Siemien looks really good. Guy throws tight spirals. Seems to play well in the Denver system. Very decisive. Easy to see why they released Mark Sanchez and went with the rookie. Sorry for being off Topic.
Lee is coming along nicely, still needs to understand the back up coverage on screens and long passes. I'm anxious to see Jenkins in this line up.
This play is exactly what made me bump this thread... I mean, that's just impressive. Spied him the whole time, then ran across the line without even a full head of steam and made the play.
Fast and quick. Did it again later in almost the exact same way when Taylor was taken out of the game. That time Mo got there sooner. Push the pocket and keep Taylor contained for some of that. Don't let him outside....... Wasn't thinking just playing there.....
