wow, they made it seem like he was going to be starting soon, to now he out for the season? Wishing him the best. I can't wait to hear the news on Matz. These injuries are crazy.

Has there been a single injury in the last five years that was NOT worse than originally reported?

And once again Familia makes it way harder than it needs to be in an inning of work.

Granderson ties it in the 11th with a HR and wins it in the 12th with another one!

Cards score 2 in the ninth to come back and win. Mets stay 2 games up on them, and are now tied for the first wild card with the Giants.

I gotcha, you're right. When they finally win the a championship in my lifetime maybe I won't be so cynical, until then it's hard not to be reactionary.

Grandyman had 2 out of 3 productive years in the Bronx (40+ HRs, 100+ RBIs).

While he's closing in on a 30-HR season (not bad in Citi Field) what stat does jump off the page is "28 HRs yet only 51 RBIs" which suggests that beyond his RISP average, the lineup around him maybe hasn't pulled their weight as well?

Blevins and Conforto the stars and the Mets complete the sweep. Either tied for the WC with a 3 game lead or a game up in the WC at the end of the day.

Cards come back to split the series with the Giants, pretty much the worst-case scenario for the Mets. Fortunately they took care of business against the Twinkies, but still three teams within two games of each other.

Good thing the Tebow move was "a baseball decision, and not to sell tickets or merchandise"

That is apparently now the #1 selling Mets jersey, according to CBS. Of course that's misleading, since whoever wanted a Syndegaard jersey already has it, but it's still sad and pathetic. On the other hand, if it means they have more money to re-sign Cespedes I'm all for it.

Bad night that might get worse - Syndegaard stinks it up, and right now Cardinals are winning. Might be only a one game lead at the end of the night.

Edit: Cardinals complete the win. One game lead it is.

Dodgers come back to beat the Giants, as Bumgarner goes bonkers at Puig, screaming at him "Don't fucking look at me" after an infield groundout. Great pitcher, gigantic asshole. He had a one-hit shutout at the time, and was immediately taken out for a pinch hitter, presumably because he had just totally lost it. Considering how truly awful the Giants bullpen is (30 blown saves this year), this sort of nonsense is inexcusable. Not that I'm complaining or anything.

Anyway, Giants and Cards are tied, one game behind the Mets.

DeGrom to have season-ending surgery later this week.

DeGrom, Harvey, Duda, Wright, Wheeler, Matz, d'Arnaud, Walker, Flores. I guess I have to give Collins credit for keeping the ship afloat.

Braves doing a great job of destroying the Mets' season. Cards up big, so it looks like a two-way or even three-way tie tomorrow.

We shouldn't be losing series to any of the remaining team. Jay Bruce got pitched hit for Campbell, that says it all about him. I was never a big fan of his, but it's almost unbelievable how bad he's been.

You can only talk about how things are going at that moment. The criticism at that time was warranted. I'm hoping it won't be warranted the remainder of the season. Despite the injuries when you look at their schedule they should make the playoffs. Granderson has 28 HR with 52 RBI. That's the weirdest thing.
