because he isnt nearly as good. you dont see us subbing in robbie anderson for marshall because marhsall is in his 30s.
It's early in the season, Forte is fresh, and we've played two close games where we needed our best personnel on the field. It would help if we had some decent leads and could use Powell to grind out the clock and give Forte a rest. In any event, since I'm pretty sure they're not planning to give him 500 carries, we'll see a lot more of Bilal soon. If it's week 6 and he's still getting 30 carries a game, then I'll wonder.
i agree that he is nowhere near the player forte is. I also agree that forte cannot be expected to hold up over a 16 game season getting 30 touches per game. its nonsensible.
Seems like they were only using him on those horrible shovel passes. Hopefully soon they will give him 10 touches a game and get forte diwn to around 20 before he gets hurt
I think Forte getting 30 touches in buffalo was the gameplan all along. Limit what Fitz has to do and make it easier on him by forcing the safeties and LBs to stay home. I think we'll see more of a split (not even carries though) here on out.
Forte hardly played preseason or in camp. He's as fresh as he could be at his age. I can't see much changing next week off the back of 3 extra days rest either. Powell will be ready to spell him when we need him to in a few weeks as the games mount up. Using Forte a lot now seems to make a lot of sense to me.
We are riding the hot back, why take him out, he's fresh and doing his thing! Our offense is hard to stop with him on the field! I'm sure Powell will get his touches soon enough.
Seems like every time Powell gets in the game we run a super awkward, fucked up play that has failure written all over it.
If I remember correctly those shovel passes and bubble screens broke for some big plays last year using Powell and Enunwa. The timing hasn't been there so far, and I believe they were tried before the O had gained any rhythm. Maybe we'll see it again, possibly with JMarsh also.
I guess we can use him with both Forte and Powell in the back. Sure to confuse some defenses since they are both good at catching the ball. But Forte so far is 5x better. Sent from my BLU LIFE ONE X using Tapatalk
The simple answer is, right now, Forte is the better back. Powell will be worked in more as the season wears on. This is a marathon, not a sprint.
That was one game haha. I think we should use him more and keep Forte fresh for the long haul but that's just me.
Except we saw this same script with Ivory last year...run up the 30+ carry games early then he's banged up by Week 7. Forte is more durable historically, but he's also older now too. And there's a SLIGHT difference between spelling Marshall and spelling Forte. At most Marshall touches the ball maybe 10-12 times a game while Forte touches it 30.
Chan Bailey is the master of the long con. I say that mostly sarcastically, but after seeing him work last season, I did notice some these flop plays he ran later opened up some of our best plays coming those same looks. So there might be something to it.
Powell will get his touches. No doubt about it. Forte is rolling right now. I get asking this question though. It won't balance 50/50 probably, but Powell will be involved more. Give Forte credit the first 2 weeks. He has been fantastic and honestly a surprise to me.
Ivory carried the offense the first 4 games last season so I was concerned when Mac let him walk. I'm not as concerned anymore. Go Forte! (and another thumbs up to Mac)
...oh one bad thing Forte did was on a passing play he stepped up and to the side and let a blitzer run right past him and he almost got Fitz KILLED. Looked like Forte wanted no part of blocking on that particular play. It was later in the game, can't recall exactly when.
