I'll admit right now I was wrong about not wanting Fitz back this season. He just brings so much to this team with his leadership and composer. I guess I forgot that this offseason and only focused on his limitations as a QB. Anyway best game by far as a Jet, I won't expect this kind of performance every week but the fact that he showed he is capable in a big spot is encouraging going forward. Fitz looked great, one of his best games for sure... I understand some peoples criticism at times but to me it's overblown. He's a good QB, the best we've had here in awhile and I know that's not saying all that much but it is what it is. Fitzmagic lives on...
As a veteran QB, if Fitzpatrick can have a 1998 'Broadway Vinny" type of season... This Jets team can contend with any team within the AFC.
I'm really happy for Fitz but I realize this board might sound totally different in a week and a half.
He only confirmed way we have been saying in this board, if the jets had a good QB, this team would be a force to dea with on a weekly basis. This board bashes Fitz because we know what this team could be with a top tier QB. Probs to Fitz, for yesterday's game.
If he would only lead the wr some of the deep balls would be td's. He accuracy is above average but his deep balls need work.
Juiced up that arm there fitzy???? Boy was throwing DARTS....DOWN FIELD. I needed that. I needed to see 2015 form Fitz to believe last year was no fluke. He showed us 2015 but BETTER. I was shocked. The math teacher has found his swag.
Can't even complain bro. That was a great performance last night. He threw down field with ease and that's all you can ask for... From an eye test POV (not statistical) that may have been the best game i've seen him play. He held nothing back. Loved it. It aint magic baby!
As a fan, I love having a team with a QB like Fitz, and enough cap $'s to build a great team around him. Great D, fun weapons on O, just a fun team to watch. And when I get to a game I see more than just one jersey in the stands!
The defense needs to tighten up (a lot) but I tend to agree. Funny how in pre-season Decker talked about how the offense was working alot on the deep ball, I discounted it and thought was a joke. Well, it had its coming out party last night. I like Fitz but didnt think he had the capability to maintain a vertical attack. Maybe a few wind-up bombs here and there, but not 30 yard completions over and over again. Great job by those guys, and if they can keep it going it creates all sorts of headaches for opposing teams defenses and opens up the running game big-time. They have faced two of the better defenses in the division the last few weeks, and if not for a few bad kicks would be sitting at 2-0.
I agree, and I'm not being critical of Fitz, my point is simply that, WE are frustrated as Jet fans because we know what we have for weapons on this team and we could be a serious contender for a division title and a playoff push. We have guys blaming TB for the loss against the Bengals, when in reality if we had 2/3rds of what Fitz gave the team against the bills, jets would be 2-0. I'm not looking to far ahead, but I honestly want to see Petty getting the bulk of the reps next year and an opportunity to battle it out for the starting QB spot.
He didn't shut me up, but he clearly prepared his ass off for this game. Sent from my SM-N930V using Tapatalk
I didn't ask for Fitz to be benched and I have not started any threads stating that Fitz is A** and his signing was a major mistake. My comment is based on a big picture perspective, the same guy that had a monster game this week was the same guy who was missing wide open receivers in the end zone last week that could have given the jets a 2-0 start. So the question is, what are we going to get next week? I gave him probs for this game, but I want to see this type of performance or at least very close to it on a weekly basis, he has too many weapons on this team for them to struggle to put up points.
He can't throw down field well, that's always been a knock on him, always will be. One week doesn't change that, That being said he played well and was clearly prepared. He knew what they were doing and when. Hes gotta keep it up this season. Sent from my SM-N930V using Tapatalk
Don't want to take anything away from Salas, but that play was 90% Taylor scrambling and buying extra time. Very hard to cover everyone when a QB gets that much time to throw, but Taylor does have a great arm, no question.
