Marshall is one of the best receivers I've ever seen who drops so many passes. It's incredible he is as good as he is because he doesn't have great hands IMO.

When your QB cannot throw the ball down the field, the opposing defense puts you in a defensible box. Your only hope against this kind of inefficiency is to have a really stout running game. Jets do not have that.

NOT worried about the Jets running game. Matt Forte will raise this offense up a level. I expect Forte to get his yards every week...guy is Super consistent. Watching Forte play is a pleasure. Smooth and efficient runner. A true pro that will lead by example.
Jets offense was sloppy week1, but it wasn't because of the running game.

I only have some mild concerns because of the way Bowles has used Forte so far and how Bowles responded when asked about the number of touches Forte had in the first game. If Bowles continues to use Forte at the pace he has, I fully expect Forte to break down and not be worth a damn by around game 11 or 12, and maybe even as early as game 8. Powell needs to get more reps.

I really liked the hiring of Bowles and thought he did an excellent job last year overall, although there were some things I thought he needed to work on or learn. He seems to be too stubborn and closed-minded (conservative or old-fashioned) on some things, and unless he changes on those things, I don't think he's going to wind up succeeding here in NYC.

Matt Forte is used to being a big part of the offense. He runs efficiently. Doesn't take unnecessary hits. Ivory was a Battering ram, hence wore down with over use. That said, i am confident they will incorporate Powell into future games more. Game 1 just shows me, Forte is up to any challenge presented to him. Picking up Matt Forte is going to pay huge dividends in picking up 1st downs, extending drives, protecting the QB when staying in to block.
One thing Jets offenses didn't do well in past years >> Screen passes. Insert Forte and Powell > Screen pass will be a Potent weapon.
Screens are such basic plays, but for the Jets never worked well.....in the past.

Forte is over 30. He got an insane number of touches in the first game for someone his age. He did take some extra hits in game one because he didn't go down immediately and was fighting for yardage. I'm not complaining about that, because one of the things that drove me crazy about CuMar is he'd go down if someone looked at him cross-eyed or go out of bounds. Still, that way of playing exposes one to additional hits and more wear and tear. On a couple of the tackles I feared Forte might get up limping because of the way the tackler pulled on Forte's leg or foot.

If he doesn't wear down, then he's superman and should donate his body to medical science when he dies. When questioned about the number of touches Forte had in the first game, Bowles said that he planned to give him the same number of touches in this game and going forward, and that he'd worry about Forte breaking down when it happened. IMO that was a totally stupid thing to say. It was the first time that I've been totally unhappy with something that Bowles said or did. I'm also becoming that way with his leaving Revis alone in single coverage on opposing teams' #1 WR.

I trust in Mac. I still trust in Bowles, but less today than yesterday. If Bowles doesn't learn, grow, change as he needs to, and remains stubborn about certain things (and I'm beginning to see some things that I think need changing), then I trust Mac to either speak with him about those things, or fire him if/when it becomes necessary and replace him with a qualified HC.
