  3. Just switch to a Tampa 2 type zone already!

It hasn't worked since Sapp b/c you have to have an absolutely devastating pass rush & speed at LB to compensate for the aggression it lacks on the back end but the Jets have the right formula now!

W/ the exception of Marcus Williams..every one of the Jets corners have the skill set needed to succeed in a zone dominant scheme. Stay face up..keep everything in front, don't get beat deep & flowing pursuit to the football.

Bowles can still run his exotic blitz packages within a zone concept & can even use Sheldon as well as Leonard in some drop back scenarios. STaying face up will eliminate those big plays & bubble screens real quick.

The red flag I see is Bowles doesn't seem to be fixing the same persistent problems. Its like this is his defensive scheme and he either has the players to make the scheme work or they lose. He doesnt adapt the scheme to the players skill sets. Is that the book on him? We'll see....

Since he has been HC, the Jets have lost 3-4 games off of poor secondary play. Bowles scheme last year called for putting Revis on an island against top-flight young wideouts like Hopkins and Watkins, even when they knew Revis was injured. And he lost those battles and the Jets missed the playoffs because of it.

To continue to expose Revis like that isnt fair to the player or the team. Why didnt Bowles address that in August? Why after the first few series or at least the first TD didnt Bowles shift coverage and put 2 men on Green and have Revis cover Lafell?

He made no adjustments and just put Revis out there all game on Green and Revis was torched for 180 yards. Now everyone says Revis is washed up, should move to Safety. Not fair to Revis, despite what they are paying him.

Same thing with the DL. 3 elite lineman and McClendon who looks like a very good addition. Will we go 4 linemen this Thursday to maximize pressure? Bowles seems like he is committed to 3 lineman because thats his scheme.

Point being if Bowles cant make in-game adjustments or adjust his system to his on-hand personnel he isnt as good a coordinator or HC as he is made out to be.

Not sure but i do know that his adjustments and brains to change an entire scheme depending on his opponent (successfully) week-to-week is what got him assistant coach of the year and a head coaching job. Whose to say his schemes aren't working and the players are the ones not executing? Seems like we need FAST lock down man corners to do what he's been doing since AZ but we don't have that.. (vomits)

yeah but they don't tell you that he has to come on the show. You contractually obligate a guy to come on your show and then when he's mad about a loss, you say "if you don't talk then don't come on the show" ... umm okay then.

Coupled with that these talking heads got on Rex for years about his faux optimism and lack of accountability after losses. Now you got a guy who gets pissed off after a loss like a coach should and they cry about that.

Did you just become a Jets fan or did you sleep through last year? Bowles sucks. The entire thread makes valid points from soft cushions to mismanaging TOs to not making in game adjustments. Wasting this team away -what a pity.
If we win, it is IN SPITE of Bowles not because of.

Because he is professional. Why would he still be pissed now? What good does dwelling on a loss do? If he said he was super pissed, it would become a headline where everybody speculates about his professionalism and letting his emotions get to him. We all know how NY media does. I'm perfectly content with him not giving the media squat. They don't deserve it. He owes them nothing.

That is what upsets me, not the loss. He hasn't shown any ability to learn from mistakes. The Bengals have 1 dynamic player to scheme for and stop. He didn't scheme nor did he stop him. He did the same in both Buffalo games, in the Houston game etc. last year.

Thankfully the media has finally caught on and is all over it since the same thing happened in the last game of last year and 1st game this year. He can't hide from it now, either he fixes the issue or he'll continue to get beat up by the media. They will force him to address it or they'll be writing how clueless he is for his inability to make adjustments.

Why bother? Rex would have won every game Jets lost.

They screwed up last year with JJ Watt, they let Breno deal with him one on one and he punished poor Breno.

The following week the Texans played the Patriots, guess what Bellicheat did? He double teamed JJ Watt all game and made him totally ineffective.

I'm not kissing Bills Butt, however, how did something so simple become so difficult to implement for HCs other than Bellicheat?

    I really don't get it!

try to remember that most of the posters that want Bowles fired wanted us to keep Rex. It doesn't matter if Bowles is in year 2 of being a HC. It only matters that he isn't Rex Ryan. They will nitpick until there is nothing left to pick at. Nothing short of resignation will satisfy these people. Good thing they're not running the franchise..

Well, if all you're going to look at is the score then you may have found out how to be a Jets fan without watching, but there are no moral victories.

On the other hand, if you saw the secondary in virtual collapse and giving up ten, or more, completions in a row because the coaches couldn't or wouldn't adapt you'd understand the frustration of fans who watch the entire game. If you saw the staff stay with a conservative offensive plan when more was needed to put some distance between the teams, you'd shake your head too.

Passes will get dropped and balls misthrown; some guy will take a bonehead penalty or be victimized by an inadvertent one; every 313 attempts a kicker will miss a PAT and a good corner will slip and fall but it's on the coaching staff to put together a plan that doesn't allow the occasional gaffe to flush a very winnable game. The luxury does not exist looking at the schedule this year to give any away.
