You know what all playoff teams have in common? They beat teams they shouldn't...... So all those tough match ups you are worried about are games we need to find a way to win.. If we win vs 2 or 3 out of Buffalo, KC, Seattle, Ariz and Pittsburgh and are 2-4, we then get Baltimore, Miami, Cleveland and the LA Rams.... We can and should beat all of those teams..... So this whole season is over thing is making you all look stupid.....
LMAO I CAN'T FREAKIN BELIEVE WHAT IM SEEING!!! Post after post of peeps saying this season is over, & that we are out of the Playoffs, AFTER 1 GAME!!! THE FIRST GAME OF THE SEASON AT THAT!!! Seriously do us all a favor and kill yourselves, I'm not going to even continue this post as I have never seen such RIDICULOUSNESS and the fact that posters have and will actually try to back those statements up!!! RIDICULOUS!!!
I haven't read one post where someone expected the Jets to dominate the Bengals. But a hard fought victory, yes, I expected it. Bengals were without two key players, Jets were playing at home. Jets, despite not being in the playoffs last year, are one of the better teams too. Yeah, the Bengals made some plays, but that's not the reason they won the game. They won because the Jets gave it to them.
Jets schedule sucks, but just because they lost week 1 it means nothing. They could have won this week and still end up 4-6 or whatever at the bye. They can lose this one and end up 6-4 or better at the bye. Who the heck knows? Week 1 overreactions are the worst. Let's just call all of the 1-0 teams playoff teams (they can fight out 5-8 for the wild card) and call it a season.
It is great to be optimistic, but you need to be realistic. The Patriots are winning the division. The Bengals are a playoff team and with the Steelers in their division, they very well may be one of the wildcards. Losing a game at home to a team you may be up against to win a wildcard against is a big blow. It doesn't matter if the game is in week 1 or week 13. The season is not over, but it took a pretty huge hit on Sunday.
A lot can happen..... If Big Ben goes down Pitt is beatable..... Wilson got Effed up on Sunday and may not be 100% when we play them..... Just Giving up is stupid!
talk about overreacting the only that is typical is the SOJ fan reaction.... We lost the game to a very good team BUT the key phase is "we LOST" they didn't beat us. There is a significant difference between the two. Before we throw in the proverbial towel lets see how the CS prepares this team and how the players respond. That will speak volumes about what type of team we have....
This reaction is undoubtedly tied to the schedule. The first 6 games will have a huge impact on our season and while we look competitive, there's just not that feeling of confidence regarding the next 5 games. Thursday nite's game from a mental point of view is extremely important to a team that believes it's playoff calibre but hasn't proved that in the last 5 years. This team has to make big plays in order to beat the good teams and we don't do that consistently. So when we lose winnable games, people tend to think the worst because typically, the worst usually happens..
I knew it was going to be a hard fought close game going in. 2 great defenses clashing. AJ Green is a monster, and Dalton has one of the best deep balls in the league. I saw it as one of those tough battles that could go either way. I never expected the Jets to win, although I knew they could. If Marshall catches that pass or if Decker didn't get jammed at the line on that endzone pass, we may be having a different conversation. The Marshall play was bad, but the Decker play was a great defensive play by the corner.
All I'm going to say is, I hate the loser mentality that we're automatically doomed because of the schedule. F that, we can beat all five of those teams. Let me be clear, I'm not saying we will, but we are a talented team that can play with anyone. Even as a long suffering Jets fan I loathe the SOJ mentality some of our fans have. Sack up, we lost by one point to a team that's been to the playoffs five straight years. 15 games left, let's start by beating the shit out of a lesser Buffalo team
Its very tough to determine which teams will be dominant after the first week. If the Jets defense cleans up its secondary and the dline continues to feast, and the offense gets in sync, I dont see a team in the AFC the Jets cant beat. They have the personnel and touch wood are relatively healthy.
The hype we fans are fed by the Jet paid media is what we should blame for this reaction to a Game 1 loss. Lower your expectations and be pleasantly surprised with the occasional win.
i do think it's pretty funny how almost all analysts still think we are a good team and aren't overreacting. i mean hell, even bill simmons who is a pats lover and jets hater said he was impressed with us on Sunday and think's we are a good team. just goes to show that fans always think the sky is falling after a lose
Even without that one play the Ravens had almost 300 total yards but if you want to play the take away game. If you take away the Bills longest run they had a total of less than 50 yards rushing for 2.13 yards per rush. If you take a way the Bills longest reception they would have a total of 78 receiving yards. The Jets D will shut down Taylor and help the Bills keep their strong hold on the bottom of the NFL Total Offense ranking.
