Well, we've seen it happening right before our eyes.. Slowly but surely a quiet renovation was happening on Revis Island. New Hotel, new pier and airstrip, amenities for weary NFL wideouts. Royal Carribean specials.. So what should the CS consider doing to salvage the last days of Revis' career??
Option number 1 for sure. Put him on the 2nd guy w safety help on the number one guy. Obviously it doesn't mean stick solely to this gameplan but he can't be matched up vs the #1 for the entire game
It's frustrating as hell not seeing him jam at the LOS. That's what makes him great, so it's not all that surprising to see him struggle.
1 for this season and 3 for after this season. Dude reminds me of Champ Bailey in 2014, 10 steps slower, so he's scared to get beat deep if he jams a Watkins or AJ Green. He's stealing money from the Jets. Perhaps we can have Revis play CB in the slot as well, wherever he can be most effective, but it's obviously not as the #1 corner. Burris needs more reps, and we need to draft some more young, big CBs in the draft. Just went you thought the defense had enough attention via the draft ...
EXACTLY, he wasnt nearly as bad as people are making him out to be. He played off all game. Theres nothing wrong with giving him help. He did at times thru the game, but the lack of coaching adjustments on bubble screens killed us. It opened their deep game more. Sent from my SM-N930V using Tapatalk
When you're paying a guy as much as Revis is getting paid, you have to live and die with them. Especially when you don't have someone better waiting in the wings. I'd personally handle it by easing up on the blitzes and letting the dline dominate on its own. Revis should be bumping at the line with safety help over the top. He's not effective playing off. He can handle the more physical guys but the speedy guys blow right by him. Have him cover the #2 most games and we can live with it for this season.
You didn't list it as a choice, but as Bills over Jets suggested, he may be ok with deep safety help on most every player. It's worth a shot. If that doesn't work, then move him to the #2 CB position, and put Skrine and Gilchrist on the #1 WR. Maybe they ought to let Revis sit more in practice so he stays fresher, and give Burris or Williams more work to try to speed up their development.
Cross your fingers - there's a good chance we won't play, in which case Robert Woods will put up 10 catches for 150 and 2 TDs.
maybe Revis spent all summer studying tape on Watkins that he forgot he had AJ Green game 1...You know arguably the best WR in the game
He is quite beast and on any given sunday any of these guys can be the best in the league. AJ's problem is he gets hurt quite a bit because he is one skinny dude.
too bad that was not obvious to his head coach and defensive coordinator.....no in-game adjustments meant the bengals went to the well often when they had 3rd and long in the second half and converted every time.
