This to me is the key point. The whole "Revis Island" thing is over - the best receivers now routinely abuse him. Obviously the defensive playcalling has to reflect that, but it sure hasn't in the last few games. Supposedly he was playing off Watkins last year because he had a bad hand, so what was the reason today? I think it's because he knows he can't cover these guys any more.
This is where you 50/50. He isnt running with the no1s with out help anymore. Thats fine, but he also isnt some scrub. Coaching is the major issue. Sent from my SM-N930V using Tapatalk
Stats don't tell the whole story, a lot of questionable play calling, dink and dunk and screens...and they were force feeding green. Revis played off an awful lot and they just took the underneath route, it wasn't revis best game but some of the play calling was more worrisome. Bengals played the numbers game on outside too many times.
I think Revis is being asked not to play differently and its not working. There is no press. Its not his style.
he's giving that big cushion because he will get burned practically every time if he doesn't. This has nothing to do with the game plan. Revis just doesn't have the skills to play the way he used to.
Brings me to my point about a position change to FS for Revis. He's no cover corner anymore and can barely tackle. I'm not sure if its his wrist that's not fully healed or he just doesn't have the upper body strength to tackle the larger Wr's.
He is a shell of what he was,,,why on earth would you leave him in single coverage on A J Green ? I'm still amazed that the coaching staff allowed this! Blows my mind that A J Green was in man coverage most of the game
Actually Revis did expect some safety help but none came. They doubled Green but it really didn't matter because Revis couldn't cover and once Pryor exited the game, it was all over but the singing in the secondary. Just wait for the Sammy Watkins Show on thursday nite..
On that one play I don't blame him at all, the problem is not only does he suck but our whole defensive backfield does and I'm not sure if its the players or the coaching.
The Nfl is an offensive league. Teams have to go for the TD down close. A defensive mindset gets you beaten. You could see that coming a mile away. I hope Coach learns from this game.
