That's a lot of work when they can just blame a blog if its wrong.

 

Okay - then how about giving one of the area chop shops a call and asking them to look out their window? Or maybe a conductor on a passing 7 train?

Can't say I'm crazy about the Kennedy move but he is definately an upgrade over Jose #2. If he only wants 3 million per I'd take that over Lugo's 10 million per. In all honesty I wanted them to make a move for Grudzeilanek a now 2 time Gold Glove winner and a decent bat but closer to retirement than Kennedy.

MIAMI -- The Washington Nationals will name New York Mets bench coach Manny Acta as their next manager at a news conference during this week's general managers' meetings in Naples, Fla., several sources told ESPNdeportes.com.

Acta did not return phone calls, nor did Nationals general manager Jim Bowden. Club president Stan Kasten didn't immediately respond to an e-mail message.

Acta would replace Frank Robinson, for whom he worked as a third-base coach from 2002-04, when the franchise was in Montreal. The team moved to Washington before the 2005 season.

Acta, 37, would be the forth Dominican to manage in the major leagues. Felipe Alou managed Montreal (1992-2001) and San Francisco (2003-06), Tony Pena managed Kansas City (2002-05) and Luis Pujols pulled the strings in Detroit (2002).

On Friday, Acta surprisingly took himself out of the running to become manager of the Oakland Athletics. He had been scheduled to interview with the A's on Sunday.

Acta, who has been a candidate to be a manager the past five seasons, joined the Mets in 2005. He played six seasons in the minor leagues with the Houston Astros organization until 1992, when he began his coaching career.

Acta successfully managed the Licey Tigers during two seasons in the Winter Dominican League, and he was the Dominican Republic manager during the World Baseball Classic in March. He also was a manager in the Winter Venezuelan League.

The Mets and Citigroup Inc. have agreed on a 20-year sponsorship deal for the team's new ballpark that is worth more than an average of $20 million annually and includes stadium naming rights, a baseball official said Saturday. The source spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the deal will not be announced until Monday at the formal groundbreaking.

This will be a record for U.S stadium naming rights, topping the approximately $10 million annually the NFL's
Houston Texans receive from Reliant Energy to call their home Reliant Stadium.

The agreement between the Mets and the financial services company includes options for both the team and Citigroup that could extend the deal to 35 years. Other commercial arrangements are part of the contract, the official said.

Construction on the ballpark — next to the current stadium in Queens — began last summer and is scheduled to be ready for the 2009 season. The Mets have played at Shea Stadium since 1964, the team's third year in the league. The ballpark is named for William A. Shea, a lawyer who helped bring National League baseball back to New York.

The decision comes three months after the U.S. Tennis Association renamed the nearby USTA National Tennis Center after tennis great Billie Jean King.

Monday's announcement will take place at a ceremony to be attended by Gov. George Pataki and Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

of all those CitiField was by far the best. For the first time i like a corperate name on a stadium. I wish it could have been called "CitiField at Shea Stadium" though

 

As a citibank customer, I don't like this investment.

But who cares what I think

 

20 Years....at least the name won't be changing as often as the rest of the MLB stadiums.

Good for Manny.... I think he will be a good manager but hte question is will the Nats give him a team to be succesful?
