    Kudos to Denver.
I guess it's time for Newton to put his hoody on and sulk.
    :p

Damn. Carolina blew the FG attempt.

Broncos 1-0 & I stand corrected they do have a chance this year.

I really thought Carolina was going to beat them bad.

There was nothing mediocre by Siemens play tonight. He was poised, made great decisions, was accurate and led the offense well. He looked like a veteran out there. He was victimized by some bad breaks (fumble, tipped pass).

I'm not expecting him to do that for an entire season (even though his numbers weren't fantastic or anything). If I had to guess, I'd bet his final numbers are something around 62%/3300Y/22TD/18INT. Basically, vintage Ryan Fitzpatrick ;), which is all they really need with CJ and their D.

Yeah that second pick he threw was bad. But he and Denver overcame it in the end.

Newton lollygagging with the clock running down had to burn his last time out.....

Yeah, I'm not happy about the missed FG. It was shaping up nicely: AFC team loss, but covers. Too bad :(

178 passing yards 1 TD and 2 INTs, had it not been for the job the O line and running game did people would be singing a different tune. His performance was Trent Dilferseque, nothing hard to making good decisions when you are not asked to throw it further than 5 yards.

It's all about seeing the potential in a young QB vs a super bowl defense. He has shown it. Fuck the stats, do the eye test... he looks solid.

game was exciting but I expected much more out of Carolina, rookie CBs had trouble and the front line could not stop the run. That was totally a blow to the head leading with the helmet move by fucking Denver. They got away easy. Had that been Brady instead of Cam they would have already suspended the asshole.

Carolina time management was atrocious, only surpassed by some awesomely piss poor officiating.

Go back and rewatch the hit. Stewart was aimed for Cam's chest and Cam dropped his head right before impact.

Great game last night but the coverage is nauseating today. I've heard suggestions on the radio today that Denver had it out for Cam because of his race. Unbelievable.

    Edit: Evidence supporting Stewart:

Denver did what i hope the Jets do >> throw on early downs often.
Siemien looked real good. Made quick decisions, ran for 1st downs, avoided getting hit unnecessarily. ( FITZ pay attention!! )

Lmao really? All the black linebackers and safeties were targeting Cam because he's black!!!!!

Collinsworth was god fucking awful last night as always but he's gotten even worse. "Denver better save that last timeout after the field goal so they can go 75 yards in 9 seconds anything can happen!" I could sense Al Michaels wanted to be like shut the fuck up Cris.

In other news, Denver looks like they're going to get 2015 Peyton Manning-esque play out of their quarterback spot, with what appears to be a much better offensive line and running game. As long as those two pass rushers and two corners remain healthy, they remain a threat in the AFC, because they played man coverage all night long and Carolina's receivers struggled to get open. Man coverage + great pass rushers = safeties lurking to behead people and it's a recipe for a great defense.

Carolina will still probably be a playoff team, but I'd imagine they take a step back and fight for a 3/4 seed rather than run through the league again. It's so hard for teams to have the emotional ride they had last year then come back and do it again while losing an All-Pro cornerback that was a huge cog in their defense. Cam Newton has an absolute cannon too, as if we didn't know that, but for a 250 pound man to play quarterback is really one of a kind.

I disagree. Stewart's head is too high for a chest hit. It's up around Cam's shoulder level. Cam's head dropped a little, but when Stewart left his feet to dive at Cam, his head level was higher in the air. IMO it definitely should have been a penalty. IMO this was confirmed by the fact that Cam received two other helmet-to-helmet hits in the 2nd half, and neither were called. The officiating blew those calls.

Yeah, not to mention one of the players who had a helmet to helmet hit against Cam was Brandon Marshall, who happened to kneel during the anthem in support of BLM and Kaepernick.

I personally believe that racism is a real issue needing real work to make things better... But when the second something like this happens, people immediately start screaming racism, thats why it's impossible to have a dialogue about the actual issues. It's a football game with football hits. This is not a racist conspiracy against Cam Newton.

Refs need to do a better job, but the outcry is over the top.

The problem with this hit was as you stated, Stewart leaving his feet and launching himself. Even though he shouldn't have done that, I don't believe he was head hunting based on those still shots.

Am I missing something here? do we live in crazy town or some shit? Why all the bitching about the Newton hit? The officials threw the personal foul flag.

I'm really sick of the emphasis on players leaving their feet being a penalty. You're obviously taught to lead with your shoulder, but a players helmet is going to make contact with the ball carrier as he follows through on the hit. Players leave their feet to fuck someone up and jar the ball lose. It's god damn football. I understand they need to protect themselves from all these concussion lawsuits and shit, but they also need to give the defenders the opportunity to break passes up.

If there's no helmet to helmet contact or the offensive player lowers their head into the hit there shouldn't be a flag. We can alllllll see when this happens on TV.

That's exactly why they need to put an official in the booth, with radio contact to the rest of the referees on the field to tell them when they screwed up. If we can see all these missed calls within ten seconds of the play why shouldn't the officials have someone in their ear reviewing it too? It's almost primitive at this point that they don't have some sort of system like that.

Yeah, that was a clear helmet to helmet. Cam was visibly shaken, which brings me to the next question:
how come Newton was not taken to the sidelines for concussion protocol? I thought it was mandatory, NFL cares and all that shit...

Bolded is so obvious I'm amazed why the "experts" keep writing Denver off, that's why I picked them, TBH.
They got the same D and at worst, the same QB as last year. Why everyone predicts such a huge drop off?!
It's not like Manning was the Payton of olden days in 2015.
