Combine this with our stellar 2012 draft which went up in smoke, and continuing to select QB's, u see why we are still razor thin at some positions like OL.

Yep. Seems to be fixed with Maccagnan but time will tell. I will say I really like Calvin Pryor and Eric Decker so Idzik was not completely terrible.

Damn. Really sucks to lose Khiry Robinson. Ran powerful and reckless like an Ivory type. Could catch out of the backfield too. Looked really good behind that backup offensive line.

As a longtime FSU fan? Karlos Williams on line one please. I wanted Karlos to begin with as a bruising, big power back who can also catch the ball out of the backfield. For a back of his size he's very elusive once past the 2nd level and into open field.

I seen Williams climb the depth charts as a HB and damn near every time he had an opportunity he made the most of it as a Seminole. What we all noticed was that his field vision is top of the line for a younger back, which is the key reason on why he had great average yards per carries for both FSU & Buffalo as a rookie last year. Patient foot work, vision to follow his lead blocker with explosion through the line. Inside the 20 he's a scoring machine and an animal if put in short yardage situations.

Yes. He came into the offseason over weight coming off an outstanding rookie campaign. He's young. Mistakes happen to young men but he's no murder or rapist. Maybe over confident but he does deserve a chance to redeem herself. Imo he's worth taking a flyer on. It's all on him to get mentally right with focus but with a good 4-6, potentially 8 weeks of conditioning his style of running game is literally built for cold weather football games due a Northeastern, North and South type of game.

People can be criticizing as sports fans but he is no bust when on that field all he's even been is productive but you don't put up his numbers without a true love for the game. I could be wrong but damn will a 'back in shape' Karlos look nice in green and white.

So what was Mac supposed to do panic, reach for some scrub or rookie UDFA? There is an order for when teams can put in waiver claims. The Bills were able to put in claims before the Jets.

Since there is only one player you mentioned and the Bills were able to claim him before the Jets, I don't understand your comment that it's "strange" that the Jets did nothing to address the OL. What were they supposed to do?

I liked the idea of them trying to find an offensive lineman if they could. Not much else to say. You asked for an example. I provided one. I thought that we'd bring another o-lineman to the main roster with Breno out 6 weeks.

OK, thanks. I wanted at least one, if not two OL added, but unfortunately, it doesn't look there are any. Supposedly Jahri Evans is done. Josh Sitton, we can't afford. Kush was claimed by another team. I'm sure that Mac thought if there was someone that was better than who we already have and they were available, he would have put in a claim for him/them. As another poster pointed out in another thread or perhaps earlier in this one, there aren't enough quality OL to go around and lots of teams are looking for upgrades. Mac can't claim or sign someone who isn't there.

We could use a big back. How overweight was this guy?

That four game suspension doesn't help his cause.

I think Williams is a possibility after week 1. Then his salary isn't guaranteed for the year.

So Mac took Hack because the likes of you panicked after reading articles by the likes of Mehta?

Yeah, I'm sure your emotional state was on the very forefront of Mac's priority list before the 2nd day of draft.

It's not gloating. It is sad that as fans we can sometimes evaluate players better than the FO. The "we can fix this guy" days are over in the NFL. It is a win now league. You do not draft projects with a 1-3 round pick. If there were NFL minor leagues, maybe. Reps are at a premium especially under the last CBA.

Believe it or not but being out the first 4 weeks is actually an advantage for both the Jets and Karlos himself.

A.) He'll need the extra 4 weeks for conditioning in order to burn off the extra weight.

B.) Despite playing for FSU within a warm weather state here in Florida, his style of run is truly built for cold weather Northeastern games due to his physical North & South style of run.

As a rookie put up 517 rushing yards off of only 93 rushes. An average of 5.6 yards per carry, tops in the NFL along with 7 rushing TD's and 11 receptions for 96 receiving yards (8.73 yards per reception) with 2 TD receptions (9 total TD's).

He's well worth the gamble because if Karlos returns to his physical form of FSU/Buffalo (last year) our front office in return then strikes gold. He's the perfect definition of a low risk addition with a potentially high reward (for years to come).

With the Robinson injury, we are short at HB, sign him, low risk, high reward

Seriously? I really like most of your posts, like you optimistic attitude (it's refreshing on this site) and I think this is the first time we've strongly disagreed about something (which is OK), but please stop and re-think about what you wrote.

After a great rookie campaign and a bright NFL career ahead of him, he either is so stupid or cared so little about his career or his team, than he ate along with his wife and reported to training camp 30-35 pounds overweight? Then his team gives him an opportunity to lose the weight, and he doesn't lose any of it, and may have put on more weight? He's suspended for using an illegal substance (?) and in spite of all his talent and upside, his team with a notoriously lax HC who doesn't hold his players accountable releases him, and he's the perfect addition of a low-risk addition? Unless Buffalo's new GM is strict disciplinarian, I think there must be something else wrong with this kid for Buffalo to have cut bait with him so quickly.

He's anything but a low-risk addition. IMO he doesn't seem like the type of player that either Bowles or Mac are looking for. They want smart, tough, talented, hard-working players who love the game. IMO if he loves the game that much, he would never have put on that kind of weight, or would have worked his butt off (pun intended) to get rid of that weight. I'll concede that it's possible that during his visit, the Jets told him that if he lost a certain amount of that weight by a certain deadline that they'd sign him, but I'll be surprised if that happens.

Exactly. He's also a TD machine once inside the red zone & an absolute animal on goal line & short yardage situations; but it's his ability to catch out of the backfield, as a bigger back, in which separates himself from other powerful HB's.

Maybe it's because I'm an FSU fan and being biased but I haven't wanted to sign a released younger player in quite some time when compared to how bad I want Karlos Williams in green & white.

One thing is for certain, coming off his rookie campaign there isn't a single soul within Buffalo's fan base that's not disheartened about Williams departure.
