F Jay F I was watching the local weather guy an hour ago and he said the exact same thing as you. He said the lower Hudson Valley might get spared but it's too early to tell,,,,,,he also said do not cancel any plans just yet . It's at our house Sunday and hoping for the best ,We would hate to cancel. stay on top of this FJF and I will look at some sites and stuff later ,hopefully this thing heads out to sea for some if not all of us . PS I don't know if it really matter which computer models have a grasp on things now does it ? That all changes come fall and Winter am I mistaken ?
Weatherman agreeing with me? Wow, midseason form right now. 12z gfs is still your friend C, we'll see later if the euro agrees but i feel the gfs has been pretty good with the track so far, underestimated the strength a bit though. Not sure about whether the models being right has bearing on the winter storms but it gives more confidence when trying to think which is right. @Joe Willie White Shoes sorry, misunderstood your concern. If i had to state right now i would say stay home. This could be damaging. If i could wait another day before deciding though, i want to see how fast it moves in the atlantic first. Tomorrow lunch you will know enough to decide
It's tracking further east now as of the 11 am NHC forecast and the models. But it looks to be forecast to hang off the coast from Sunday into Tuesday. I have to decide what to do by tomorrow anyway. Local forecast is calling for occasional rain and 20mph winds on Sunday.
Well just had the first band come though here and got a 1/2 inch of rain in 5 minutes. No real wind yet.
Ah, i don't miss being down there at all right now wb. I imagine things are going to get real for you in about 6 hrs. 12z euro is only out to sunday right now but puts it right off the jersey coast. Not a good spot for it. Keep the updates coming wb and good luck
Thanks, looks like it might get a little stronger than I expected but still for down here not too bad. They are saying about 40-50% chance of winds getting up to around 60 MPH with gusts up to 75. Had some gusts up to 70 MPH about 25 miles south of me so far. Of course weather.com says winds are only going to get to 20-24 MPH. Tornadoes are the only thing that bothers me right now. Edit: Right after I typed that I turn on the TV and they say winds only 35-40 MPH. Guess I just wait and see. Only thing I worry about is losing my internet connection, have to watch the game tonight.
Hey @FJF What type of wind gusts and rain are we looking for Northern NJ when this thing travels up north?
Well some areas got it pretty bad down here with the storm surge. I am sure there is some damage from the winds but nothing terrible. Only 150,000 without power which is not a lot considering. We ended up with 5 1/2 inches of rain but that is still going, wind did not get bad by me until after 12 but it wasn't that bad that I felt the need to get up. Good luck with it up there, hopefully it doesn't get anyone too bad.
uuuuggghhhh............. Hurricane PArty Overload. storm damage : downed tree limbs, lost brain & liver cells
Shouldn't be anything too bad brook, Its going to stay off the coast and spin for a few days but other than some showers and beach erosion nothing to note.
not a fan of 50kt onshore winds, but LI & OBX should be firing........ considered a road trip, but I have a work project that has to be done by next friday.
What do you weather geeks think ? Does this storm effect all of us ? Does it really hang around 3 days and Turn west / or inland ? I'm not sure what to make of this ,,,,,,,,,thoughts
FJayF or anyone else a little help here,,,,have people coming tomorrow and I am NOT canceling if anything I will move start time from 3 pm up to noon ,,,,,latest Euro still has this thing turning inland and hanging around,,,Gfs and Nam have it farther east . Weather geeks say Nam can't be trusted with hurricanes others say it can,,other weather guys say it will intensify over the water as I type ,,all I want to know is can club CBG be rocking tomorrow or should I cancel it ? Bhueler ? Bhueler ? FJayF ? Anyone ?
party on C, nothing to worry about tomorrow, system is going to stall east of a.c. even if it wobbles to the west a bit,it will be too far south to rain on you tomorrow.
