To be fair, the word on Milliner was fragile... I liked the pick knowing it was a gamble (and we needed someone), but yeah, didn't work out.
I will admit that I was wrong, I liked the pick and I still believe sometimes you can make the right pick at the time and it just doesn't work out. Hind sight is always 20/20. I think to say going into the draft that he had a label of fragile is exaggerated, although he had off season surgery he never missed a game at Bama. I said it hopefully, half in jest, half in seriousness, but I'll take the hit if he doesn't pan out. Even if he doesn't with his mental and physical attributes, I definitely think he was worth the risk. If he does develop and become our franchise QB, what do I win?
Better dead money than a deadly player who could kill our season by getting torched in the secondary. Smart to cut your losses on a bad player rather than keep him around just b/c you paid him more money...or, put another way, you don't want to compound a mistake by continuing to tie up that roster spot.
