New rules as TC concludes and press only see first 30 minutes Let’s catch up on the walking wounded Neither WR Quincy Enunwa (concussion) nor OLB Jordan Jenkins (calf) was outside at the beginning of practice. Jace Amaro pulled up during drills while Kenbrell Thompkins progressed more. Who wasn't in pads at practice? Safety Dion Bailey (unknown), cornerback Dexter McDougle (hamstring), running back Romar Morris (shoulder), right tackle Breno Giacomini (back/PUP list), and wide receiver Devin Smith (knee/PUP list). Amaro, Kyle Williams, Jordan Jenkins, Thompkins, Enunwa didn't practice today, according to Bowles. Todd Bowles made some very interesting comments when he stated that the Jets will need to cut some good players over next week or so. "It's not always the best 53, it's the right 53." Todd Bowles on Most Improved in Camp: Buster Skrine, Brian Winters. Winters also got love from our OL coach who stated he is a Winters fan. Jarvis Jenkins is an under-radar standout guy QB Bowles wants to play all 4 but Geno is second man up not Petty. Ryan Fitzpatrick will play first half Saturday and Geno Smith will be the second QB in. Bryce Petty may or may not play. OLB Todd Bowles said he wants to get a look at Catapano, Reilly, Bishop and Martin at OLB. Jenkins could miss action SAT vs. NYG. Personally would prefer if Jenkins got some reps with the 1’s to get the Dto gel.
Looks like we're gonna open the season with Ijalana or Qvale at RT. They're both getting a lot of playing time. Ijalana replaces Clady and has been playing both Tackle spots. Guess we'll find out later if either could be an eventual upgrade at RT. G's look like they're set. Harrison appears to be well behind in the G depth battles. If we stay healthy I think we'll be okay
Drafting a RG or RT with that #2 would have been good. We will have a hard time keeping our QB's on their feet this season. I have hopes that we grab someone off a cut, who is better than the shit we have here.
No way as Hackenburg going to Ir. The Jets have no plans to play Hackenburg( are going to change his mechanics in the offseason) . Roster spots are too precious to throw away on keeping four Qb's( trend in NFL is only going with two).
No matter how many times people say this, you can't just send a player to IR. Don't you think there are doctors involved? Other staff also, that would all have to lie to make it work. This isn't like years past when teams would stash multiple players on IR. And it would have to be an injury expected to last at least 6 weeks, what kind of injury would you guess they would claim?
Better look at the cap hits: http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/new-york-jets/cap/ There are definitely some guys that could be cut that would benefit our cap, like Winters and Geno. A few other guys can't be cut at all because their dead hit is bigger than alive. And some, like Milliner, screw us either way. Ron
Yeah cut Winters and then sign me so we have two players starting on the right side for opening day that have never started an NFL game. Genius!
This. Breno is no better than Winters and is also hurt. Plus Ijalana seems to be not much of a drop off if any from Breno. He's held up alright.
