Clear sailing C, aside from the afternoon boomers but you know how to schedule around that. But Orlando in August? Really? Was hell booked so you pick the next hottest place?
F Jay,,,,it was literally a last minute trip and it was hot as hell at home so I figured let's do it,,,,,that said it is " Africa hot " here,,,lol
Some captures that someone from Reddit put together. 5 days out for the first, so anything can happen, but looks interesting. Valid 12z Aug 28 Valid 12z Aug 29 Valid 12z Aug 30 Valid 12z Aug 31 Valid 12z Sept 1
we'll watch the first low, that could be named in the next day or 2. could be a real threat to miami this weekend. south florida should really pay attention. latest euro has it at 994mb over miami sunday. the gfs has it staying south of florida and not as organized.
The Euro model has put out a long range forecast that has a doozy of a storm raking across Florida, picking up steam in the Gulf and then slamming into her backdoor or possibly giving the Gulf coast a repeat performance of 2005. The drought of US landfalls could only last so long
so euro still putting a tropical system in miami on sunday and then has it ride the gulf coast through the pan handle . really getting stron when it reaches the gulf. there's a hurricane out in the atlantic that will spin itself out safely in the ocean but may get close enough to give stinkyb the waves he is looking for
Gaston will have to consume all the steroids in the DR to send the waves I'd like but...... unfortunately I think 99L will bring more pain to the peeps of LA
Anyone have an idea which of these models is best to watch, I don't expect it to get all that strong but I am just in from the coast near where the dark green, light blue and purple models comes ashore, just north of Tampa, so just keeping an eye out. Looks like the strongest part of the storm is SE of center, when a storm turns like this does it keep that look with the strongest storms in the same are?
hey wb, the gfs and the euro are usually the top dogs. the gfs has been on this one pretty good. euro wanted to put it in miami and has been keeping it north and stronger than the gfs. right now the gfs has it coming ashore right around horeshoe beach but you're pretty much going to be getting rain from wednesday thru friday.
Thanks, was figuring on 6-8 inches of rain. Horseshoe Beach is about 75 miles north so guess we will be getting some of the heavier winds but doesn't look like it will even get past tropical storm strength.
Let me say I am glad we were in Florida last week and not this week . It was extremely hot but no tropical storms and or hurricanes ! Hey F Jay F where can we find us one of those farmers almanacs or better yet a long range forecast to see how much snow we are getting this year ? Mother Nature owes us big time so snow haters beware as we dodged many bullets last winter my gut says this year it swings the other way and we here in the North get us some !
Most of the summer we have been lucky regarding rain on the weekends, I think it rained one weekend all summer,,So now it looks as if this weekend is a washout ! I'm waiting to see how this pans out and have not canecelled any bbq s or parties but it ain't looking good
Latest models give us Saturday and half of sunday of decent weather. Not so much for south jersey. I think this thing is going to head farther out to sea where it won't effect us too much C. Waiting on the afternoon models. Also keeping score to see who performs better. Maybe it will help us tracking the winter storms
Yes. As of now, sunday looks to be a washout for most of jersey. We will see more in 24 hours when this thing clears florida and hits the Atlantic. But right now i would plan on bbq Saturday.
I'm not worried about some normal rain and 20 mph winds. I'm wondering whether I need to worry about power loss and flooding. In other words, do I stay home and buckle under or can I go away for the weekend if I want to?
