All you posted was Geno's college stats to prove he had a better college career than Petty?
Actually you didn't just say better, you said "way better"
Stats don't always tell the whole story but since that is what you are basing it on.

Petty had a 6.2 to 1 TD to INT ratio, Geno had 4.67 to 1 TD to INT ratio, Advantage Petty
Petty had 322 YPG average in 25 starts, Geno had 291 YPG average in 39 starts, Advantage Petty
Petty had a QB Rate of 166, Geno had a QB Rate of 153.5, Advantage Petty
Petty had a record of 21-4 in his starts, Geno had a record of 26-13 in his starts, Advantage Petty
The only stat I see Geno ahead in is completion percentage 67.4 to 62.7

    Where was Geno way better?

This is the reason why I created this thread while showing support for Bryce Petty out of Baylor.

Even as a Geno supporter tonight's performance is why I've been so high on Petty as a prospect & potential Franchise caliber quarterback.

Should've been a great come from behind victory with Petty as the driving force (on the road) going 16/26, 242 yards, 2 TD's/0 INT's, 3 sacks along with a QB Rating of 117.8.

Although our defense failed us during Washington's final drive. Petty did everything in order to win us that game.

Imo Bryce Petty was the best/most impressive QB that took the field tonight (both teams).

    TLDR

    However

It's clear that Petty has more upside, more football IQ and more leadership than Geno. Not to mention, Petty has the years on his rookie deal.

If any GangGreen human supports Geno over Petty after these 3 years they should get a lifetime ban.

Do not confuse this post with any delusion that Petty will be Tom Brady. I am not saying that.

All I'm saying is that Petty is a better "risk" at #2 than Geno.

    Buh bye Geno

I noticed Petty was smiling a bunch out there and having fun tonight. You could tell the guys believed in him.

Yes those third stringers playing for there lives belived in him....What choice do they have?Jets fans get to caught up in back up QBs.When are we gonna see Hackenberg? This draft pick continues to be a mystery..If hes not ready to the point where he cant play a meaningless game then what a waste this pick was.

Also they say the "Mark" of a great QB is how much he smiles during a game that only matters to compulsive gamblers ...

There seems to be an energy around Petty. And a cloud over Geno.

On the field and on the sideline

He got to throw a couple last night, definitely not terrible. The one was a little under thrown but still good enough to catch. It ended up being a completion but probably could have been a TD if he laid it out better. The other resulted in a long TD.

Say what you want about playing against 3rd stringers, but Petty spent the entire time he was in throwing to relative 4th string TEs, nothing but rookie receivers, his only threats to run the ball were a couple of slow white FBs, and played behind one of the worst Olines I have seen in years and he never shook, and got the ball where it needed to be most of the time.

He had some miscues but you will have that when you are throwing on every down.

This is it in a nutshell, I posted it in another thread, at some point the QB just does his job, no matter who is on the field, he takes control of the situation, gathers his teammates and becomes the leader of the group on the field.

Geno should be blowing Petty out of this competition, instead Petty is proving that with more playing time he is going to be the better player.

byz. How could you be so misled?

    1. Geno is doing badly because he is facing 1st team defense.
Petty may look good now because he's beating up on camp fodders.

    2. Suppose - if Petty starts with 1st team and does well: he got good protection from the starters. GeNO will do equally well.
GeNO doing horribly with the 3rd stringers? Let's see what he can do with 1st team.

    ==========================================

I hope I made my case.

In command of them all to boot.

Things could be coming together for him and he knows it

Petty made a couple of big time throw's yesterday to Anderson. Watched it again and Petty stood tall and laid out passes to him with touch and accuracy. The second one, the TD, he got hit right after too. That was a great throw.
He stood up tall and dropped that pass right on him. He's making great throws.

At times you'll seem him just gun the ball, throw it too hard, rush it and it has no touch, and he loses accuracy

But some other throws are showing him standing up and making the right throw on time with the right feel. Petty can throw the fucking ball.

I did see a few passes from Petty that should have been on target and weren't, but like Walt says, he also stood strong in the face of pressure and his his targets on other plays. That game was a mixed bag for Petty but I think it was mostly positive.

He seems like a gun slinger. He's going to throw some retarded shit that drives you up a wall. You just have to hope he makes up for it on the other end pulling of shit he never shoulda tried.

He's literally trying to "Brett Favre" it just as he stated.
