Something I noticed was the energy. Smith brings nothing to the field there. Ho hum Geno Smith is in. Idk if his teammates don't like him or not but the energy is deflating

Petty sparked his teammates, showed enthusiasm, I saw them laughing and shit in the huddle. Obviously that's not the biggest thing in the world but I think it's meaningful, especially for a backup QB role

I tend to agree it's so hard to judge in preseason because first-teamers play against second second against third third against second etcetera it's really hard to know or gauge how well they would do in a regular season game

Also if I have to see Geno Smith run backwards 15 yards like a fuckin idiot again to avoid pressure I'm gonna break his jaw. How is he still doing that garbage? Holy shit

I think that's basically the gist of it. The guy seems like a complete dbag, even when he's saying the right things.

Even his 2015 Head Cheerleader BMarsh has stopped pretending.

I believe it's because he doesn't suffer any palpable lack of football IQ at this point.

At some point the QB has to be able to assume a leadership role, he is the one that has to know the playbook in and out, knows players roles in the scheme, so he has to take command of the players around him.

Gailey has one of the most QB friendly schemes, so the question is, after 3 years in the NFL, why is Geno still not able to command the leadership role that the QB position demands?

Why is he still making the same mistakes that he made 3 years ago? Physical ability means nothing as a QB if you dont have the intangibles that are needed to take it to the next level.

Maybe a change of scenery will work for Geno, maybe not, honestly I don't think a change of scenery will work for Geno because the physical part of playing QB is not the problem with Geno.

Bowles & Maccagnan last night. Where's the d-bag that insulted me on my Geno thoughts? Section 336 holla if you done jerking Smith off yet.

Petty could still very well amount to nothing. But he's at the very least cool, calm and collected in the pocket and seems like he has a clue. Geno always looks like a lost puppy.

Yeah, I'm starting to get to that point. I don't know if it's nerves and he's pressing and anxious, or if he's depressed, or is just overwhelmed mentally or incapable of being a leader on the field, but he is an energy suck right now and is showing no fire or fight. If he doesn't step it up next week, I'd rather trade or cut him and just go with Petty as the backup. I think he can handle it well enough.

So is it OK to criticize Geno now or are we still racist if we criticize him? Please let us know what opinions are OK to have.

If Dallas is going with Prescott, for sure I'd be happy with Bryce. I believe in this kid. He's got moxie. And you can see all the starters on the sideline are rooting for him, especially mangold.

Isn't that what a change of scenery supposed to accomplish, the mental aspects of the persons well being? You can be in one location or 1000's of miles apart, the physical ability will still be the same.

The last of Geno's problems is physical ability.

Million dollar body, ten cent head.

here's a throw back, but didn't Sanchez have head problems (similar to what Geno seems to have now)? Hanging his head a lot, thin skin, no confidence, didn't play well when a BU was breathing down his neck. Didn't some consultant tell Sanchez to pick his head up in a friken meeting?

Anyway, Mark DID have brilliant games mixed in with his bonehead plays, similar to Geno. Both QBs were thrown out there day one (imaging Hack starting this season). Maybe we ruined both of these guys beyond repair.

Geno's problems are physical as well. He just can't operate at all from under center. Never has and I don't think he ever will. Build some kind of gimmicky read option, wildcat offense around him and maybe he won't look so hapless. That kind of offense is probably good for a 5 win season in the NFL at this point.

I think as a whole us Jet fans should be worried about the QB situation. Fitz or Geno didn't look good yesterday and Petty out played both of them. Now with that said Geno could look great next week and Petty shit the bed. Let be be honest here it Geno 1 and Petty 1 when it comes to who out played each other.
