Because WB doesn't understand their own properties. Captain America is the prime example of why Marvel succeeds. They didn't shy away from why he has been so popular in comics, from his personality to his costume. I'm amazed at how incredible his costume design is in the movies; they perfectly translated a silly comic design to the real world without losing the silly elements. They just aren't silly in this form. WB is busy changing their characters to make them seem real in live action. And in the process they lose what people actually enjoy about the characters.
Tom Hardy is a great actor I just can't picture him as wolverine. His face just doesn't do it for me when I think of the Logan character. Marvel somehow manages to do almost no wrong when it comes to casting nowadays so I expect whoever they get to make pretty much everyone forget hugh Jackman was ever wolverine.
Finally got around to seeing this last night. To start off I was a HUGE Black Panther fan growing up, I own near mint condition copies of his first appearance in Fantastic Four #52 and #53, all of the Jungle Action appearances and the 15 issue publication from the the late 70's. After the initial thrill of seeing the character on the big screen, I can honestly say I thought they did a real good job and his appearance is one of the highlights of the movie. I can't wait for the 2018 release featuring BP. I also think they have done an excellent job with the Wanda Maximoff (Scarlet Witch) character. Contrary to many here, I did not rank Winter Soldier as high on my favorite list when I first saw it, but did view it again before seeing this film and saw why many rank it high. I do think this movie is better, and definitely up there near the top as far as superhero movies go.
I'm trying to imagine how Thanos fits into all of this. The Avengers going up against Thanos is a lot like the FF going up against Galactus (which for some stupid reason was never expanded in that failed franchise). I have a feeling when this happens, we'll see another cameo by the GOTG. I don't see how The Avengers defeats an galactic powerhouse without some divine intervention from some yet to be determined Super powerful agent for good on a galactic scale. Maybe they'll take a page from the JL going against Darkside. I'm really hoping for another character, totally new and powerful enough to go head to head with Thanos.
There's going to be 67 characters in the Infinity War movies [Part 1 / Part 2]. You are going to see all types of characters. Celestial beings, your normal Avengers team, GOTG and much much more. Maybe Daredevil, and the others from the netflix shows will also appear. The story will be told from different perspectives. I wonder how large that budget will be.
Sounds like the entire Marvel Universe is gonna get some facetime in these upcoming movies. I just hope it isn't overdone..
I had the realization last night, and maybe I'm late to the game, but Loki is likely to become the "Mephisto" to Thanos in Infinity War. Sort of playing both sides, not quite evil, not good at all. He'll play that role well.
Looks like I found this post way too late, but I disagree. I thought Jackman came off as trying way too hard as being the disgruntled version of Wolverine and still do. He's a caricature. There was always more depth to that character and Jackman just kept playing the same emotion. He's one dimensional, he sucks. Hardy is a far better actor than HJ will ever be, a guy that can pull off Bronson can't do a comic book character? Come on. I think the problem with Hardy is that his agent sucks at selling him. The dude is excellent.
I just saw Bronson a few weeks ago, and he was phenomenal in that...really think he could pull off any character that is thrown his way
Same here. But. It'll take a memorable Wolverine performance to wipe the memory of his many donk images from Bronson from my memory.
I guess I'm biased, because I just don't like him and never have. I was a Wolverine guy back in my teens when I was still buying books and he kind of ruined what should have been the best part of those X men movies for me. He comes off as a one dimensional over actor to me. I did like Prisoners though.
