It could, and maybe it led to his demise during the latter part of his tenure... but results in his first 2 years speak for themself...and Geno has NOTHING even remotely close to that caliber of success on his current NFL resume.

I don't get why so many Jets fans always seem to get sucked into shitty QB's and believe in them like Peter Pan believes in fucking fairies.

When Casserly was interviewed on NFL Network he referred to Geno's play after he was benched and returned - there were several positive games not just the "perfect rating" Vs Miami.

Casserly also spoke of the effect Chan Gailey has on QBs and how he had a huge part in the numbers Fitz posted and that Geno had grown in the year on the bench - maturing and understanding the offence which was also referenced by B Marshall (who rarely says nice things about QBs he dislikes - ask Cutler).

Why the hate - Geno is still a Jet who is doing well in camp, his role is whatever the CS / FO say and he can be a good back up - Fitz went down in 2 of the last three seasons missing multiple games and we should if we are real fans of the Jets hope he will do it if needed. He is doing better than the rest of that QB class - would you prefer E J Manuel?

I think it's laughable to think that booing the shit out of a guy after literally a few snaps with backups in the first preseason game is ever normal

We saw it with Sanchez....if you struggle early on a certain portion of the fans have you on their shitlist....And they are just waiting to pounce and trash and boo you at every opportunity

I understand people not liking certain players and even not thinking they will ever improve but this kinda BS has gotta stop with the Jets fanbase. I really don't see the same garbage with most other fans around the NFL....Just relax people, your hatred for the backup QB is irrational and makes us all look like clowns

I know and Fitzpatrick is the prime example.

But in reality it is the blonde hair, 3rd string, preseason game monster pretty boys that will never even amount to a career backup that get most of the love.

I think it should be Fitz and Geno battling for the #1 spot. I don't think they should just hand it to Geno. I'm sorry I don't think Fitz had that good of a year last season. How in hell can the 24th ranked QB be consider a good year?

Fitz is a bad example. No one expects him to become something he's not.

I'm talking about the Sanchez's, Geno's, post 12 shoulder surgery Pennington types. Jets fans hold onto hope beyond hope they're suddenly going to become the guy.

How much of first week preseason games of other teams are you watching? I don't watch much more than the jets in preseason so I wouldn't know.

Fans boo. It's not just a nyj fan thing.

I have no hate for Geno. As long as he is on my team, I am pulling for him.

I was only poking a little fun.

He has had some flashes of being really good, and some flashes of being really bad.

The truth is somewhere in between.

    Great.

Except TB and Mac are trying to win some fucking football games and it's their call.

You're on here saying the same thing for the 800th time. Which is okay when you don't have shit at stake, even on here. I guess we can look forward to another 500 pages of this shit now again

I'm not really sure where I fall on this. Geno should be blowing petty out of the water but it doesn't seem like he is. If this battle stays close is geno really the #2 guy? He's getting more reps at practice but not pulling away from Petty. That's a red flag for me.

I've been to other NFL games in other stadiums....believe me Jets fans are some of the worst out there when it comes to hating their own

Not even the booing of Sanchez and Geno although that goes along with it.....But just the constant bitching and crying about anything and every little thing that goes wrong in the game is really pathetic

There's definitely a portion of Jets fans that wallow in the misery of the team and aren't happy unless there's something to cry about (And there's plenty LOL)

    I truly believe that

Geno is Mark Sanchez redux...has all the tools and occasional flashes of brilliance, but also the amazing capacity to make/exhibit some mind numbingly stupid decisions in a game like not knowing how to get down or slide, throw the ball away and limit damage, and poor pocket awareness/situational awareness.

Not Geno's fault, but Jets fans just recovered from Sanchez's failings and still carry that bad feeling around. Some of us have seen this play before and know the ending...another in a long line of 'million dollar arms, 10 cent head' NFL QB's

I know I clipped some of your post, but this part sounds a lot like things we saw from the 12 million dollar Mick last season.

Oh, I agree to a large extent...but he ain't the future of the NYJ QB plans either, same as Geno. Fitz is just more serviceable at this point in time.

Fitzpatrick's big leverage over Geno seems to be the ability to rally the troops and make people believe in him to some extent. IDK what Geno's issues are, but he just ain't a 'leader' or someone that inspires confidence. Just my observation from watching, I could be wrong.

Don't get me wrong, I feel better about the QB position than I did a month ago.

I just don't feel like this is a much better team than last season. And the schedule appears to be tougher.

It's hard to get excited about the future when the team looks like it's going to tread water at high tide.

I know you're discussing the future, but without promise for a future QB, I don't see a future yet.
