by the way, speaking of countdown to kickoff, yesterday was the last sunday without some sort of NFL football until February. Woo hoo
I know, I went to bed last night thinking next sunday it will be the hall of fame game. A game all of us football junkies watch from start to finish because we are famished for anything football.
I think this was 1978. I may have been at this game. We hung with the Steelers. Only down 14-10 into the 3rd. Of course we lost 28-17. Wesley Walker had some long receptions. He was really starting to open some eyes at that time.
Was at this one too. Jets were still new to NJ at that point and this was one of our first really great home crowds at *barf* Giants Stadium. People were calling it a possible Super Bowl preview! Bears really showed how physically dominant they were. But the Jets were very tough. We couldn't move the ball at all. O'Brien under siege all game. As was McMahon. We put a good amount of pressure on him Still it was 13-6 heading into the 4th. Bears kicked a couple of field goals to pull away. Though if it was us vs. Chicago in that Super Bowl instead of the joke lucky Pats I can assure you we wouldn't have lost 4,5834 - 10 like they did. We were better equipped to at least challenge them a bit.
Mike Augustyniak 1981-1983. Dude was playing with broken ribs his rookie season. He tried to hide it all season until he almost died after a game in Foxboro. The rib finally tore through and filled his chest with blood, nearly collapsing his lungs.
Dexter Carter. Half a season in 1995. Fumbled in every damn game. A bust FA signing if there ever was one. Brainless Kotite move.
