Hear me out, the forgotten TE could be a key part of the offense next year. This guy had some major numbers in College and has the skills to be a very dangerous receiving threat IF he can put it all together and shake off the rust. With Decker/Marshall (and others) and some good coaching Jets achieved quite a lot offensively in 2015. Imagine the things that could open up with a big target like this for Fitz and Gailey to put in the arsenal. Those are a lot of if's but the upside could be great and a lot of fun......
I don't expect anything from him. Have we heard about (from teammates or coaches) or seen any encouraging signs? He seems to be mentally weak and/or not coachable, in addition to having stone hands.
I would love nothing more than to be wrong about him, but I think he's more "joker" than wild card. Like Ubiquitous, I expect to get nothing from him. I didn't want the Jets to draft him, and I thought he'd be a wasted pick.
Hopefully Amaro mans up. His hands I've felt are good enough but his problems catching were more from lack of concentration. It doesn't have to be Amaro...maybe Sudfeld or Saxton can emerge. Anything would help. Speaking of hands and wild cards: Enunwa could be a true wild card weapon and do major damage if he improves his hands. That guy fell in the draft because he didn't have soft hands and was not a natural pass catcher. It's the one thing that's held him back. It looks like he may improved at least, and that's good. You can see some improvement and that he's worked really hard at it.
Can never have too many reliable pass catchers, and I think Amaro could become a player like that. He had that very productive game against the Bronocs his rookie yr. 12 catches 68 yds and a TD. Hopefully he can build on that.
he's got the athletic ability of a grinder, but he doesn't grind, because in his mind he's Jimmy Graham. unless he grows a set of nuts and changes his attitude, i don't expect him to accomplish much in this league.

IMO, the negative things being said about Jace are off-base. Although I recognize he was in TB's doghouse real fast last year, I think he's got a good attitude and skill set. I expect he will contribute.
I'm surprised this is the first thread this offseason on our young 2nd round TE! Amazing with such diehard fans people totally forgot about him (or dismissed him so fast after one injury!). He's considered a potential star receiving TE, and he only has one year of NFL experience thus far due to last season being lost to injury. I will continue to think of him as a weapon, alongside Marshall and Decker, until he proves otherwise. To me he's a potential breakout star, and again I will think of him as an asset unless he proves otherwise.
If he's used as a traditional TE in Gailey's O, he will fail miserably. If he's used in more of a receiving role, like Enumwa last year, he could thrive.
Enunwa has stone hands. Gotta give Amaro a full year to see what he does under Gailey. If he can't produce with all this talent around him then adios.

The best TEs in football are bad blockers. Not terrible, but far from a dominating lineman. Look at the hands of lineman. Their fingers are taped together and they look like someone spent the last week smashing them with a sledge hammer. Pass catching TEs with soft hands won't be around long if they sacrifice their bread and butter to trying to block 300 pound mad men like Wilkerson and Richardson.
