I read that Forte was getting looked at by trainers while other RBs were running drills. Hopefully it's very minor.
Petty to the practice squad. No one's picking him up. Every team has their own Petty, who they've invested a year or two in and knows their system. No one is looking to start at ground zero with someone else's project.
I think Petty absolutely gets picked up. Teams were rumored to be looking at him when we picked him. He's got an arm, size and a brain. He wouldn't go unclaimed. Unfortunately, I think we are just going to lose him.
As someone alluded to in another thread, I wouldn't be surprised if Hack or Petty come down with some sort of "injury" that lands them on IR so we don't lose any of them. I agree though. There's no way he doesn't get picked up. Even if at the very least it's an AFC East team looking to get their hands on a quarterback that's been in the Jets system for over a year by the time he gets cut (and 2 training camps).
Here's a possibility: Fitz goes down with his crazy 'never slide at any cost' running technique. Geno comes in for 4 weeks and lights it the fuck up. I mean better than just forcing Bowles to make a game day decision when Fitz heals. I mean he writes his own check the moment the season ends. And refuses to even allow Mac to give him and offer. He rides outa here in style, all while we're locked in the TGG asylum and can only watch a broken Fitz and 2 kids on deck to start the 2017 training camp.
It makes no sense to cut Geno. We all know Fitz will not take the Jets any where. His 11 year history shows that.
Im thinking Amaro and Enunwa will be interchangeable. Amaro is supposed to have excellent hands and good athleticism so the balls that were dropped from that position last year should be caught this year.
No way i would play at a vet minimum if im clearly needed. The interior line should absorb a lot of pressure for the outside lb's and put them in the position of making 1 on 1 tackles.
Why is Dee even being mentioned. ..Marcus should be starting day 1 unless he regresses. Dee and mcdougal may be the future...but presently they only play in nickle and dime situations.
Sacks and pressure can cure all of these issues. 1 or 2 of the young guys getting to the qb on a weekly basis is needed for this defense to be truly dominant.
How does it make sense to cut your only backup QB with NFL experience? Whatever it is you're jamming up your ass on August 29th, better start lubing it up. Do trades count? I could see a trade, but he's not getting flat out cut.
How quickly we forget. Denver was in our nearly exact situation with hobbled Manning (Fitz) and back-up Osweiler (Smith). Manning went down for a few games, and Brock came in and played barely above avg. Manning retired and handed the ball to Brock, who mic dropped it and walked out, leaving Denver with nothing (Sanchez). But ohhh, that could NEVER happen here. Let me add Brock was benched for hobbled Manning, which really pissed Brock off. Sound familiar? All it would take for my scenario is for Fitz to get hurt and Smith come in and play well.
