LOL you got me there For the record, I still think the Jets can atleast compete for a spot in the playoffs, and hopefully they prove me wrong and make a run.....I'm pretty excited for just about everything else Jets I totally get the people that would rather see Fitz back....Not everyone is going to be behind every single move 100% in agreement, it just gets blown the fuck up when it's the QB
Finally, I can officially say I'm excited for the season. We return every important starter on defense, with talented young guys like Pryor, Leonard, Mauldin, and Sheldon having another year of experience. Add exciting rookies Lee and Jenkins to our LB corps. Re-signed Wilk. The best red zone defense in the league, the third-best third down defense is poised to get better and more comfortable in Bowles' scheme. We have a competent QB, stud WRs, and a solid group of versatile running backs. The OL is iffy. The offense's primary job will be to not fuck it up, but there is enough talent and flair to be exciting on this side of the ball as well. This team should compete for the playoffs, and as a miserable Jets fan, that's all I can ask for.
Glad to have a decent QB in place but disappointed that we totally overpaid him. At least he comes off the cap next year.
The Jets became a better team today. They are in a better position to compete and it's going to be a lot of fun from here on out. Starting tomorrow the focus is on practice and getting better, and that's it now. Fingers crossed on Clady, and hopefully we can get a fucking thing from a daggum TE. Have a safe camp boys... Go Jets!
So now you're turning back and saying we can make the playoff with Fitz after making it known that you think he's such a shitty quarterback. If we "have a shot at the playoffs with Fitz," does that somehow mean you think Geno Smith was going to steamroll the AFC to some 12-4 record? "We can make the playoffs with the guy who threw 31 touchdowns last year but man, if the guy who threw 34 picks over his first 30 games starts for us we're going to the promise land!!!"
Honestly I just assumed everyone promoting Geno and bashing Fitzpatrick were just pissed off at Fitz because he was getting greedy. If someone actually believes Geno has any NFL competence whatsoever then I don't know what to say lmao
Why are people upset about the 12m? The original offer guaranteed 12m in the first year, regardless, and this is better than a 3 year deal for QB that will turn 34 this year. It's a win. It makes the Jets competitive this year, while they develop Petty and Hack.
Absolutely. People calling it a waste of money. I have a question: what player is out there that you would rather spend the money on and go into the season with Geno as your QB? Answer: Nobody.
There's being realistic and then there's the people on here that are just miserable disgruntled individuals. Every year it's the same thing, these naysayer Jets fans that are never content and always think the sky is falling. - Fitz is the 22nd highest paid QB going into 2016. That's on a one year deal, with what should be a much improved team on both sides of the ball. What's not to love? To those of you that who keep pounding the "we should save for the future" drum, the future is now... This is a built to win NOW team that isn't getting any younger. It's the best cumulative talent this organization has had in 7 years. What, do we just content ourselves with tanking over the next several years to make cap space and hope we can build in the draft while all this veteran talent goes to waste? Where's your sense of pride?
No I think Geno or Fitz would give us a similar chance...I always have said that. I know many don't agree and I don't care anymore, the discussion means nothing now I don't think we will make the playoffs, just think we can compete for a spot. If things break our way why not? The rest of the team can hang with any team out there when you take away the QBs if you compare
1. Sticking the fork at Fitz till AFTER the training camp starts: ARE YOU FUCKING NUTS? What a way to sabotage a season just to lowball Fitz, eh? Seriously can you get any dumber than this? 2. Tells you what the front office thinks of GeNO. 3. 12M is a reasonable salary, contrary to what you guys might think. No starting QB is at 8-16M area except Fitz. And he is certainly better than the likes of Tannechoke, et al. 4. Mike the Knife saves the day yet again.
Because it's 1 yr I don't really give a fuck if he's getting $8 or $12 mil, point was we weren't sure if he can repeat his play from last year and with this deal we can cut ties with no ramifications if he doesn't perform.
In one word experience. Smart and savy plus high football IQ. While Geno is way more athletic he lacks (so far) QB IQ. If our HC thought otherwise Geno would be the starter. While I respect your opinion I think I'll stick with our HC. Do I want Geno to fail? NO.. Do I think he is capable to lead us? Don't think so but hey anything is possible. As a fan who wants to win I'll go with Fitz based on last year's record. And if Geno takes over I'll be rooting for him.
Personally I would have liked to keep Snacks. Also, there were a few other free agents that went to other teams that we could have had. Then there is the money we could have carried forward into next year.
