surprised at these terms, this is what Fitzpatrick said he would do from the beginning. Why would the Jets do this now? Seems like they had more leverage, I was expecting something like 2 for 18 or 20 so that's that, LGJ!!!!!
He's not worth more than $7-8 M/YR...Jets are getting ripped off. Guy can't throw the deep ball undermining our WRs.
Who cares if he's getting 8, 12 or 15 this year...all it matters is more money you restructure on other deals. Someone's getting that money this year anyway.
Terrible move. When Fitz goes down week 6 or he is 2-5 by week 7 we will regret this move. Bengals, Bills, Chiefs, Steeelers, Seahawks, Cardinals are our first 7 games. We are losing 4 of those with or without Fitz. When he is 10 TDs for 10 INTs come week 8 we will regret this lol.
Why are popple bitching about this? It's a one year deal,th- the cap hit won't hurt us in the long run, there are no better free agents left to spend the money on, and it's buys us one more year of bridging the gap without having to watch Geno God Damn Smith
As opposed to Geno being 8 TD's and 12 INT's by week 8? People have to understand whoever was starting this year is going to be a stopgap anyway, whether it was Fitz, Geno or Foles. None of them would be part of the team's future beyond this year and they were NOT going to play one of the two kids this year. Of all the stopgaps Fitz gives them the best chance to win this year with his knowledge of the system, that's a fact. Unless you still believe Geno's all of a sudden going to turn into Drew Brees, but you'd have to believe in Santa and the tooth fairy to believe that.
Why would we regret resigning a guy who just led us to 10 wins and set the franchise record for passing touchdowns on a one year deal? Even if he flops it has literally no financial ramifications at the conclusion of the season. We already have our roster essentially set, not like he is eating up cap room we would otherwise use on a difference maker. The only way I could see us regretting anything is if you're a Geno believer, in which case an injury or disastrous start to the season would lead to Geno playing anyway. At which point he either soars or sinks. And if he soars, you can only regret not playing him earlier, but I'd be willing to bet no one would really be upset with that unforeseen positive development.
He's back on a 1 year prove it deal and we're ready to roll for 2016. I really do wonder if Fole's release had anything to do with Fitz getting the deal done today. Fitz could've been thinking we had the chance to replace him with a Geno/Foles combo for a whole lot cheaper with an already crowded QB room with Petty and Hack also under contract. I'm glad he sat down and finally came to a decision to play on the deal we offered he felt was most fair. Great job once again by Mac. Get him back for one season and lets to do this again next year..if he's still needed which he should be for at least one more season. Jets and Mike Maccagnan easily won these insane contract negotiation.
Hope I'm wrong but the 2015 Fitz will not be back Welcome to the reality of Fitz vs a defense with a pulse
Players had to reconstructure to free up 8 million (potentially more for the $15 million incentive mark). That will play a role down the road.
