I thought he looked and sounded stiff throughout the entire speech. The speech picked up at the end but I gotta say he's miles better without a teleprompter.

I hate practically everything about Donald Trump, one thing that doesn't bother me is his ability to use a teleprompter.

The whole convention was hateful rhetoric and platitudes. Trump message was basically white people be afraid, and I'm the only one that can make it better for you, white people. All the while saying absolutely nothing on how I will do that. He's a terrifying man. He did motivate me to donate to Clinton and I'm going to figure out how can manage to find the time to volunteer for her.

Then you're just as daft as anyone voting for Trump.

I get it, though. I know some really intelligent women who throw their brain out the window when justifying why they're going to vote for Hillary. I get it.

Kind of like the urban nation supporting everything Obama does for no other reason than the color of his skin.

What an ignorant response. Equally offensive towards women, and poc. Really no point in discussing anything with someone with your mentality. You don't seem like the type of person to have a rapport with so I'll just ignore you going forward.

One idea I never see anyone float: refuse to vote.

Your vote does not matter. You are playing right into their hands by voting in a system where you can't actually help decide who is president.

The popular vote is nothing other than the government's truly official polling system.

What would the story be on election day if Hillary beat Trump by a tight margin and there was a record turnout? Hillary won.

What would the story be if Hillary beat Trump by a tight margin and only 15% of voters turned out?

It would be that the American voting public has lost faith in the system and won't perpetuate it.

The current electoral system and the current political makeup in this country is nothing but a dog and pony show that replaces dogs and ponies with a couple of diseased muskrats, and the media tries to get people to decide which of them is more diseased.

That's exactly what voting for what you consider is the "lesser of two evils" gets you. A poll result, that may or may not match the decision of the electoral college.

Stop playing their fucking game. You are lending credence to a system that broke long ago.

And that's me being jaded as well, because I know in my heart that they'd lie about voter turnout if it actually happened.

Sorry but that is so wrong.
My vote in NC matters and can help decide. Actually the people have more of a say now than over 200 years ago when there was not even a popular vote to determine the electoral college and US Senators were appointed by State Legislators.

Anyone who believes that they should do away with the electoral college, the election just based on overall population are just be in favor of getting rid of states and state governments for one big bloated federal government.

On the other hand what should be happening is the federal government going back to what it was intended to do bind independent states, who control the majority of what goes on in their states while overseeing a few necessary things like Military protection, currency and interstate commerce etc.

It's not ''off course you did''. The speech was loud and slow. I came in expecting a more energy filled speech like one he has at his rally.

Had to work, missed the speech. What is it he said that made you come away with that view of him?

You could vote for the 3rd party candidate, if they receive enough votes, they will be eligible for federal funding and get on every ballot. The only way to change the system is to get a 3rd party in the running. It may not happen for years, but it could happen. It's better than not voting, it's not "wasting" a vote.

I think it would be more effective if the 40% of eligible voters who don't bother because they think there vote doesn't matter, actually showed up and voiced there opinion.

Trump's certainly an acquired taste, but I thought the speech overall was solid.

After listening to the speech and tone last night, Trump really does think he's Paul Kersey.

I'm not voting for Trump, but I think he wins a nail biter. I think he's going to get slaughtered in the debates, but people won't care.

Obviously corrupt and potentially incompetent versus obviously incompetent and potentially corrupt.

    Decisions, decisions.

Trying to be positive about this upcoming election and the state of America is like having to root for the Detroit Lions. :)

More like arguing which franchise has been better the last 15 years; Browns or Lions?

Trump is Matt Millen, and it scares me.

The electoral colleges probably as a theory is great the issue we have is that politicians each year change how the comprise your state. So basically they get to fix it to their liking. That's the problem. The President should be based on popular vote
