That's fantastic. I didn't realize that raising a piece of shit criminal , and the showing the world that he was being raised by " burn this bitch down" mentality was so highly regarded. I'm writing in apocalyptic asteroid on my voting ballot

If Trump wins, I see the same thing happening in 2020. I'll take 4 years of Trump over 8 years of Hillary though.

You could call Trump a lot of things, but I don't think sniveling, selfish prick is one of them.
Nagle hit the nail on the head that is exactly what Cruz is.

He is probably the only candidate on either side, that is more disliked than Hillary and Trump.

Do you know the names of the other candidates running Besides Trump and Clinton? The Reps and Dems have won again by keeping the vast majority in the dark about the other choices out there while they continue to give it to you in the ass as you bend over, grab your ankles and happily accept it.

If all the people that say there are no other viable choices, that a vote for a 3rd party candidate is a wasted vote, if those people would take a little time and actually research the other candidates it might actually make a difference down the road. Maybe not this year and maybe not next but it could help finally break the death grip the two main parties have.

I did hear Johnson speak on CNN this morning, he is at the Republican Convention. He was articulate and made sense. He's got to get to 15% in the polls in order to be invited to the debate and he was quite realistic in explaining that's the main goal right now. If I've ever "polled" I'm telling them I am voting Johnson just to help with getting him at the debates at the very least. Let the man speak so the people can sort it out, whether you like the man or not, lets get him to the debates

You probably haven't heard a speech that came from someones heart, rather than a speech writer, in any political contest in your life. Trump may be an exception in some cases and it shows.
Sarah Hurwitz wrote Michelle Obama's 2008 speech and I am positive she had a speech writer for her others but I didn't bother checking.

I was actually going to suggest that to Mute in my reply. Even if someone does not think they will vote for Johnson at least give him a chance to get in the debate by telling the pollsters you will.
He is at 13% in one poll and 8% in another from what they said. Not sure which is the official one they go with.

A vote for a 3rd party candidate is indeed a wasted vote in the current Electoral College system. It would be different if the winner was determined by the popular vote, as it should be.

The debates need this guy, if for no other reason to keep some semblance of focus on the issues.
If it's just Hilary/Trump, it will just be a bi-partisan mud slinging shit show.

I'd actually like to see Stein in the debates too, although it won't happen. enough with the 2 party agendas, and no independent thinking..

The Reps and the Dems in charge love this attitude. It seems the biggest reason I hear from the large majority of the people for not voting 3rd party. Not the actual issues.
Lets imagine that each person that said this, took the time to look at where the 3rd party candidate stood on the issues and then voted based on that research rather than thinking it was a wasted vote.
The latest CNN poll has it 42% Clinton, 37% Trump and 13% Johnson. If everyone that is only voting Dem or Rep because "A vote for a 3rd party candidate is indeed a wasted vote" decided to vote for that 3rd party candidate that really aligns with their values then it is not too far fetched to think Johnson might have a chance.

It's logical attitude. 13% would give him zero electoral votes.

he's at 13% today Petro. not November. He's just some guy going against Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump who've both been at the forefront of public discussion for 25+ years and he's already at 13%? I'd say he's doing well considering.

I dont know if I support him for President myself but if people ever got over the self-fulfilling prophesy that a 3rd party candidate would never win, they very well could, especially in a year like this where most people don't really like either candidate very much

Some things take a long time to get real traction too. The Libertarian party might only get 13% of the vote this election cycle, but maybe they get 18% next election cycle and 20% the cycle after that. Just staying in the conversation on a national stage can be a big deal. It can also help local grassroots elections gain traction.

Not winning this time, doesn't mean you aren't making progress.

If you keep voting for the lesser of two evils, evil always wins. I plagiarized that.

You want to get a third party off the ground you need to do it at the grass roots, not at the top. Run for some local offices, support candidates for your state legislature, build up a groundswell of support for the cause. Voting the top of the ticket is just bleeding votes off of one of the top two candidates. How many Ross Perot voters would have preferred George HW Bush to Clinton? How many Nader voters would have preferred Gore to GWB? Its a sucker bet.

Right. A 3rd party president will surely get a lot of things done, considering that the Congress has members only of the two main parties.

I'd argue that they'd get more done, as there won't be a need for one party to vote simply to block the other party.

ie, a democrat president proposing a bill, the republican congress says fuck the democrats, we can't allow them to have a win...Denied!
if a libertarian president proposed the same bill, it might have a better chance of getting heard, as other party politics won't come into play as much.

imo, if we had at least 4 major parties in Congress, there would be more focus on issues, and less on the political sabotage we have today.

What does it have to do with Trump? We're talking about a 3rd party president.

You think they would love a 3rd party president, who's neither affiliated with the two big parties, nor is part of their inner circle? They would have no problems getting the needed majority to impeach, that's for certain.

You support Trump but are arguing against a third party candidate on the basis of them not being able to work with Congress. I know Trump is going to make America great again but most of Congress doesn't like the guy and probably won't be chomping at the bit to push his agenda through.

Same goes for the impeachment deal. Actually, Pence is probably much more desireable to Republicans than Weld.
