so you are tired of inexperience and mediocrity at the QB position, but you want who, Geno Smith this year? i know Fitz isn't much, and he isn't the future answer. But he is at least experienced, smart, detail oriented, a good leader, and a good mentor. Smith isn't any of those things. I haven't seen anyone suggesting Fitz is the savior, or to open up the purse strings either, so that is just hyperbole. His contract grievance is over making 6M in 2017 and 2018. If he remains the starter, he doesn't want to end up making less than some backups. valid concern, and can be reasonably fixed with more incentives written imo. it won't be a bank breaker......he'd still be the lowest paid starting veteran QB by far. I'd be shocked if this doesn't get worked out.
He's not part of any long term plan, and it's debatable whether he'll even be part of a short term plan. short of an amazing season, Geno will not be a Jet next year, as his contract is up and the FO has invested in new projects. there is a good chance he might not even make the final 53 this season, unless you believe the coaches about retaining 4 QB's.
The Super Bowl champion Broncos are right now stating in public that Trevor Siemian, a 2015 7th round pick out of Northwestern, has a good shot to be their signal caller this year. So he is neck and neck with the Sanchize and Paxton Lynch is behind them both. I think the Jets QB situation is better, with or without Fitz.
Fitz just put his house in New Jersey up for rent and isn't returning Brandon Marshall's texts. Is it safe to say that he's moved on?
Good. Now he can go & sign a small contract to become a backup (yet again) to a team such as Cleveland or Philly. Let's face it, he's never been anything more than a career journeyman within the form of a mediocre backup who's failed at sticking with an NFL team (each & everytime). Heck, he can even take his arm limitations of a noodle arm with laughing stock accuracy & retire for all i care... Rex Ryan would be disappointed.
What are you talking about? Fitz has proven over his career that he's just not good enough to lead a team on a playoff run and beyond...He is not a starter for a team with championship goals, at this point anyone willing to start Fitzpatrick is basically saying ehh I guess we're fine with a decent year at best All 3 of the other guys have obviously done less but all 3 don't have a story told about their careers yet Why in the world would you pay extra to start a veteran if you believe he's not good enough in the end? Just because he's the likely best case scenerio does not mean it is a good move if he's not going to get it done. You need to take a chance that Geno turns out to be a lateral move or better. There's a good chance he's actually worse than Fitz but when Fitz is 100% not the answer it's a risk that needs to be taken People that actually think Fitz can get it done in this league are living in denial and going against over a decade of evidence against their beliefs.
The only thing that comforts me in the QB situation is that Big Macc seems to have some faith in GeNO. Let's hope performs a minor miracle in becoming a serviceable QB. Otherwise it's going to be a long season.
Wonder when Foles will be cut so we can scoop him up. Why didn't we sign Hoyer for the $2 million deal he got? Because we waited on Fitz and lost that gamble. I'm accepting it will be Geno because Hack and Petty aren't ready to play.
Yea I've been in favor of Kaepernick from the start....Seems like the 49ers aren't just going to give him away though
Foles has been terrible but he's also been decent. The odds are better he rebounds than Geno succeeds. But I would prefer Kap over Foles.
The Jets will go 0-3 with Geno outa the gate and Mac will help toilet bowl the Season ...great Ask Boomer Easiason how the Jets treat their QBs
"Raleshitbird?" How unique! How mature! What a jackass. You make a big deal about quoting a coach who didn't say what you thought he did because you couldn't read the article so instead of pulling on your big boy pants and manning up, you make up names. You're not in seventh grade any more, Sonny. Try to keep up with the adults if you want to play in the big leagues.
You can keep counting other people's money but it won't make up for not having any yourself. Fitzpatrick gives the Jets the best chance to win the most games this year. Period.
