Josh Jooris, solid signing 4th line center, rh, very good penalty killer, scored 12 goals 2 years ago, cheap and 26
If you get the Jooris of 2 years ago it is a great pickup, last year he looked disinterested at times and took dumb penalties all over the place. However as a Flames fan I am sad to see him go and wish him all the best. I quite like Josh and hope he rebounds nicely in New York
Rangers announce they've traded Derick Brassard to Ottawa for Mika Zibanejad & a 2018 2nd RD pick Interesting.
The way I see it...Both teams are a bit sad for losing each guy, but its understandable to see the dynamic change each could bring to the team. Rangers need to get younger with assets and Zibanejad is someone I always liked alot especially in those 7 game series. Brass was very good for us and Ima miss that guy just like Hagelin. Here is hoping Brass doesnt go and win a cup next season in Ottawa. Seems to be the trend with our guys
Cheaper, younger, faster, bigger, excellent penalty killer, clears 2.4 mil in cap space. ...Brass was a good Ranger
Steve Zipay @stevezipay 2h2 hours ago Steve Zipay Retweeted NY Rangers PR Impressive numbers, we'll see how he fits in NYChttps://twitter.com/NYRangersPR/status/755096725103251456… Steve Zipay added, NY Rangers PR @NYRangersPR Mika Zibanejad (23 years old) established career-highs in games played (81), goals (21), assists (30), points (51), and GWG (7) in 2015-16.
McDonagh 27, Ziba 23, Miller 23, Hayes 24, Kreider 25, Buch 21, Skjei 22, Fast 24, Lindberg 24, McIlrath 24, Stepan 26, Jooris 26, Nieves 22, Grabner 28, Gerbe 28, Zucc 28, Holden 29....suddenly a lot of youth, faster, better penalty killing
Like the trade, but I'll love it if they commit to selling off more pieces between now and the deadline. They now have cap room to retain some money in a deal for Nash or Staal. And Klein is in a similar position as Brassard - good player who's grown with NYR, has a nice contract, but will clearly be on the downside when the team is ready to compete again. Try moving him now while his value is at its peak.
Ottawa obviously thinks he over-achieved and are trying to sell high. Hopefully he keeps it up and his ceiling is even higher. Brass is from Ottawa so maybe that's one reason they went after him. They should have also asked for AV in the trade, I would have been happy with a bag of pucks in return
Right now looks like: Kreider-Stepan-Trash Zucc-Zibs-Buchnevich Miller-Hayes-Grabner Gerbe-Jooris-Fast McD-Klein Staal-Girardi Skjei-Holden Mcilrath
