Appears that cops are now getting the cold shoulder from fast food joints, and in one Taco Bell case, an already served patron actually told the cashier that if they served the officers that she would demand a refund and leave. Like the word "alleged" in the NYDN headline below . . ".......would you like lies with that?" NEWS Alabama sheriff’s deputies refused service at Taco Bell by alleged anti-police cashier Two sheriff's deputies were turned away by a Taco Bell cashier after the employee told them the eatery didn't serve cops. ALFRED NG NEW YORK DAILY NEWS Sunday, July 17, 2016, 3:09 PM To protect and not be served. Two sheriff’s deputies were allegedly refused service at a Taco Bell in Alabama, just for being officers. The two Lee County sheriff’s deputies were at a Taco Bell in Phenix City on Saturday when a cashier told the pair and an officer’s wife the eatery didn’t serve cops. The officers first took it as a joke, but the tone took a serious shift after they asked the cashier if she was kidding. “No, I’m not serving you,” the cashier allegedly responded, according to Sheriff Jay Jones, WTVM reported. “This really disturbs me that people have started treating law enforcement professionals in this manner when these same law enforcement professionals put their lives on the line every day to protect all people, including this woman with a very bad attitude at Taco Bell,” Tammy Bush Mayo, a deputy’s wife who was at the fast food chain, wrote on Facebook. She also recalled a customer who was happy the cashier refused to serve the officers, claiming the Taco Bell patron would have asked for a refund because she “didn’t want to eat somewhere with a cop.” Tammy Bush Mayo, a deputy's wife, spoke out against the Taco Bell employee on her Facebook on Saturday. (FACEBOOK) Sheriff Jones spoke out against the Taco Bell takedown and the cashier’s anti-police actions. “I’m very disappointed that simply because they were uniformed law enforcement officers that our deputies were treated in such negative fashion,” Jones said in a statement. “We pride ourselves in giving people basic respect and only ask the same in return.” While he was upset with the situation, Jones believed the incident was from a disgruntled employee, and didn’t reflect Taco Bell’s political views. The company is investigating the incident and plans to reach out to Mayo and her husband, a Taco Bell spokeswoman told the Daily News. “We are deeply appreciative of the men and women who have taken the oath to serve and protect our communities,” the company said in a statement.
Shouldn't there be big media coverage with various expert telling us that we shouldn't just a group by few bad apples, that it's important to be tolerant, to accept our differences. Maybe a couple of lawyers offering services to sue for discrimination; employee account and face publically dragged through every news channel. It kinda looks like we're treating potential terrorists better than cops.
Wanna know what's so funny about this story? If somebody came into the store and tried to rob them they would call the police to come and protect them. These people are fucking absurd.
Well, as much as I hate this kind of thing, at least they aren't responding with violence like the other situations lately. They are trying to make a statement without violence and it kind of makes me think back to Martin Luther King and his non violent protests. It's obviously not the same thing, but it's better than the senseless violence against innocent people (on both sides). Something like this is much better way to make a statement. Because not being able to eat shitty, unhealthy, fake Mexican food is terrorism!!! Those poor guys must have suffered so much having to go to BK instead.
I don't think that's what was meant. If it were other people that were denied service all hell would break loose and all media outlets would spend 24 hours a day on it
Its just dumbass idiots. You all should know there are tons of people that lack common sense and decency.
Except making a statement like that should get you immediately fired from your job. A fucking low level cashier working has no right to decide who to serve on the behalf of a large corporation. I would be extremely disappointed if she is allowed to keep her job. It is funny that when it is a right wing conservative, going against their job not wanted to issue a marriage license to a gay couple because of religious beliefs - it gets plastered all over the network news. But a $10 an hour clerk at a fast food chain refusing to serve law enforcement solely because of their career choice and not a peep on the news. One is a hell of a lot more discriminatory than the other and it is not the one the left wing liberals would have you believe.
Could you imagine if they refused someone who was gay??? My god. The cry and outrage would be astronomical compared to this. There would be people saying the manager of that establishment or even the regional manager should be canned. This is absolutely disgusting
America, 2016. Where being denied the right to eat shitty food is a front-page grievance. Such a powerless class of victims, those deputy sheriffs in Alabama. Poor fuckers might could starve to death. Sheriff's lives matter!
