Funny enough, I heard Long Way Home in the car this weekend. I shit you not. So I know what I'm talking about. That is some seriously bad music. Like Styx level bad. Sorry my friend.
There's 2 kinds of people in this world. People that know Styx is a bad ass band. And twisted demented dentists.
Shit is that Clayton??? 70's - Boston, self titled, 1976........my favorite band, bar none. True story - my sister tried out for them (drummer) a few years ago but didn't make it. Scholz was concerned about having another female in the band.
Right off the top of my head. If I give this any thought, I'll go nuts. 1950s - Duke Ellington - Such Sweet Thunder 1960s - The Velvet Underground & Nico 1970s - The Clash - London Calling 1980s - Pixies - Surfer Rosa 1990s - David Bowie - 1.Outstide 2000s - Gogol Bordello - Gypsy Punks 2010s - Iggy Pop/Josh Homme - Post Pop Depression
CBGB's was the shit....I grew up on the island so most of the shows we went to were in Huntington at the RoXy...but took the train to Roseland, Irving Plaza, and a ton of clubs to see bands like VOD, Life of Agony, Fallen Christ, ...i could go on but you get the picture.
I know those places and those bands, I was a Jersey kid so we also had the Birch Hill in Old Bridge, I saw the Deftones, play with Downset and Orange 9MM there. I kid you not, the place was as big as a high school gym. I also loved a band called the Pilfers who were from the City, saw them play a bunch of times at the Wetlands. Don't know if you are old enough to remember that place.
Li had an awesome scene in the early 90s. Used to go see neglect, tension, cross fade, society's downfall , life of agony, mind over matter etc.
Birch Hill was awesome, closed down a while back from what I heard, last time I was there was 2001. Lame ass Opeth/Lacuna Coil show with a fuck-ton of hot chicks there.
