Pretty much. Harvey's issue wasn't a velocity problem, at least after it warmed up post-April. It was a location problem. I'm rooting for the Mets to make the playoffs but the elbow bone-chip problems of Syndegaard and Matz are worrisome. Hope they make it through the season. Is the surgery for it, similar to a knee scope? As far as I've read none of it is structural. It seems like all MLB pitchers will eventually need Tommy John type elbow surgeries with how hard they throw. On that note, does any of you guys watch the homerun derby? MLB is doing all they can to save it with the bracket & timers. Pretty damn boring.
Not sure how it relates to a knee scope, but I did remember hearing that Thor will most likely not need the surgery. His bone cheap is way less severe than the one that Matz has. He will probably require some type of surgery. I don't even know what the Mets need to add. Another bat? Where?
I would say they're a bit full now especially once Duda comes back. A starting pitcher would ironically make sense, given all their young talent. They don't need someone really good, or to give away much, but someone to maybe spot start here and there, and give some of the young guys extra rest. Another Colon if you will. Ervin Santana would be a nice pickup for them.
I'm serious. What, you I'm think bs'ing. Well I'm not. I miss Wright even less if that's possible. If we're healthy across the board there's a lot less whining about Murph today. If we signed Murphy to play third instead of Wright I would have been on board with that. And was actually hoping they would. But doubted it would ever happen. But we weren't going to when we were paying Wright all that money. And I didn't even like re-signing Wright at the time, at all. I'll say this too. Whatever Met fan I ever talked to about trading Wright and not resigning him I was met with hostility. He's why we don't have Murphy. Otherwise I don't second guess not signing Murphy, at all. And acknowledge, and do not disagree with, the reasons we didn't sign him moving forward. We can thank the Coupons Our team today with Murphy and without Ces and Walker would be even worse off
Don't forget guys ESPN 30 for 30 Doc and Darryl is this Thursday 9PM. I'm really looking forward to it. They always do such a great job with these things. sigh, what could have and should have been!!!
Terry trending for apparently doing a bad job managing the Allstar game. I didn't really watch. I had it on the background so idk. I will say I find it kind of funny that he didn't put in the two players from his own team. That has to be a first.
well, that's what I wanted also....... or even trying him at first. (the Duda slumps are painful) If was still on the Mets and not the NATS they'd be in 1st place...... water under the Van Wyck now.......
Murphy is indeed the difference between us being in first place and where we are now. Coming from the same franchise that traded Tom Seaver, how can we be surprised?
Murphy sat out Friday and Saturday for Washington. He was supposed to start today but sat again, until there were 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th, no one on, 1-0 Pirates, Melancon pitching. Murphy pinch-hit homer. Now 1-1 in the 12th.
that's a clown team, bro Washington - Bottom of 17th SCORE Jonathon Niese pitching for Pittsburgh PIT WSH Turner singled to left, Turner out stretching at second. 1 1 Taylor walked. 1 1 Werth grounded into double play, shortstop to second to first, Taylor out at second. double play was because Washington didn't send Taylor (3-2 count, 1 out). Inexplicable.
It's ridiculous, I dont give a shit about lefty righty matchups, bring Flores in to hit, forget De Aza he has done nothing. And this just in, Rene fucking Rivera gives us the lead. Holy shit are we a juggernaut or what.
I guess it would have killed Kelly Johnson to drive in an extra run for insurance there. Seems like we needed more than that anyway because Familia loads the bases with nobody out.
Unreal ending. Was talking to my brother about how good Familia is but god dam does he always make it interesting. Good win now lets go get the 3rd one and take the series.
Mets’ Wilmer Flores deprived of playing time, despite hot bat Flores quote “I know that my time will come, if it’s here or somewhere else,” Flores said before Tuesday’s game against the Cubs. “But I know my time will come. Right now, I’m just doing what I have to do whenever I’m in there.” It's not right how they have treated him. If I were him I'd be pissed off. It doesn't sound like there would be any tears this time if he found out he got traded.
