I don't know who's wrong or right here. But I know I'm damn tired of this whole freakin narrative since mike brown. Cops are expected to perform perfectly in a split second life and death situation and criticized all day by idiots who probably can bag groceries without mistake. All the training in the world will not give the results of perfection when you do t know if your life is in danger. These are not robots , they are people acting on training. If the perfection was possible we would never ha e another dropped td pass or fumble on Sunday's, but they still happen. Yeah, there are bad cops , and some that over reAct. But there are fr more pieces of shit on The streets that they have to deal with daily.
I should also add, that if anyone thinks soneone becomes a cop , just so they can throw away their career, family and face criminal charges just so they can kill or harm a black person your are an idiot
She had just saw her boyfriend shot and killed, was still cooperative, and respectful with the officer. She was probably fearful that she might be next.
I lived there, maybe not intentionally but there are definitely some lets just call it cultural insensitivity there. Korea..... ha even worse. They essentially are taught anyone who isn't Korean is below them including other Asians.
Of course, racism exists in every fucking crevice of this world. The notion that only white people can be racist is absolutely asinine.
I'm can only guess because the officer acted like an officer that was not aware of the weapon or wasn't given enough time to give verbal commands for the driver to follow for everyone's safety. For example, Scenario 1 - Officer makes contact with driver. Driver advises officer of weapon as he is reaching for the wallet. Officer reacts as trained. Driver is killed. Scenario 2 - Officer makes contact with driver. Driver does not concisely make officer aware of weapon. Driver is killed. Scenario 3 - Officer makes contact. Driver places hands on steering wheel. Advises officer of weapon and waits for officers commands. Officer kills driver for unkown reason. My bet is on scenario 1 or 2. It is tragic but when you carry a weapon your responsibility is to be the most courtious, well behaved and cerebral individual you can be. There is no blasè effort at this. If you fail, you are dead or someone else is dead. Edit: I forgot to answer your question. Based on my own experiences, no there is not sufficient training. The typical compitancy class is 3 hours. I feel 3 days is more responsible. The gun ownership and CWP holders are growing every day. A state funded/subsidised, mandatory safety course with real standards is needed. Everyone should have access to training and it gives instructors time with students that may pose a mental health hazard. In these cases the proper agencies can be notified.
Pretty well said. So what's the best thing to do? Don't put yourself in any sort of situation where a police officer could draw his weapon on you. I'd imagine most posters on here have never been even close to prompting a police officer to draw his gun. Regardless of whether people think is just or unjust in terms of traffic stops or arrests, when you're pulled over, do what they say without being suspicious. More often than not they're going to find whatever you have in the car regardless of how you act. Amazing that these guys choose actions to make a police officer draw their weapon rather than 3 months in jail.
that exactly it. Put your hands on the wheel and listen. It will be over and everyone will be on their way. Now, if you're wanted , if your armed , got drugs a cop can sense the nervousness. If you get out and run, resist, go for a weapon... You're playing a stupid game and will win stupid prizes.
I ha e to watch it again ... But wondering what drew the cop to passenger side on traffic stop. Why does she seem more excited to make a video than her bleeding out boyfriend . Why does she claim they killed him while he's moving around in the seat. After he's been shot , and it's made clear the officer will shoot... At what point did you think it was a good idea for you to freely reach for your phone.
Or why don't you stop being so naive? Aren't cops trained to detain someone without shooting to kill? The man was sitting down in the car, the only way to stop this armed madman was by killing him? Cmon now.
Respectfully, you can not type an utterly uneducated thought like this and call another person naive. A man seated with a weapon in a car is just as dangerous as a man outside of his car. Actually, even more so. He has cover and the element of surprise. Also, I'm not sure if your thought about, "shoot to kill" was suggesting that you shoot to do anythong else. If you shoot, you shoot to kill period. That is how we are trained.
This thread should be suspended until more information about what actually happened is forthcoming. Do we really need to constantly share ugly, ignorant accusations and suppositions from narrow minds each time something like this happens? It amazes me how many people are so eager to expose themselves as bigots, apologists or just lock-step adherents without more than even a first effort at finding the truth.
you sound like an ignorant white guy who has no idea what is going on in the world. id advise you to stop talking about things that make you sound like an inbred moron.
Why don't you tell everyone exactly what happened when the cop approached the vehicle since you're so sure? If a cop is at the window of a vehicle and he sees a passenger reach towards their hip, then see a gun in that area, they are completely justified in shooting the person. That's why as a legal concealed carrier you need to be more responsible with situational awareness.
