As for the actual context of the thread - I don't see how anyone can watch that video and say the dead guy was pulling for a gun. I'm not going to make a judgement one way or another because we simply don't know what happened, but to say for sure one way or the other is just silly - unless I missed something.
FBI / DOJ: 84% of white homicide victims were killed by other whites. 93% of black homicide victims were killed by other blacks. 45.3% of all homicides committed by whites while whites accounted for 50.3% of the victims of homicide. (-5% offender/victim ratio) 52.5% of all homicides committed by blacks while blacks accounted for 47.4% of the victims of homicide. (+5.1% offender/victim ratio) 2.2% of all homicides committed by other races while other races accounted for 2.3% of the victims of homicide. (-0.1% offender/victim ratio) No, I don't see it being 5 times higher. These numbers are much closer then 5x or whatever you pointed out. http://www.bjs.gov/content/pub/pdf/htus8008.pdf Homicide Trends in the United States, 1980-2008 Annual Rates for 2009 and 2010. Feel free to provide further context from the DoJ. Criticizing other races when you are doing the same thing pretty much ain't cool.
You aren't taking into account the number of people in the population. That's how you get the rate. There are a lot more white people than black people. If there are 100 white people and 10 black people and 1 white person kills 1 white person and 1 black person kills 1 black person, do you think that's the same rate? because it's not.
I think Black People take about 13% of the US population or so, but sociological factors / other factors I think need to play a bigger role in these #s.

We live in a Police State, folks. In 2015, 990 people were shot dead by police in the US, according to the Washington Post. The Guardian says that 1,125 people were killed. Bad policing is a far bigger threat to Americans than any terrorist organization. http://thinkprogress.org/justice/2015/12/28/3735190/killed-by-police-2015/
Do we know how many of those were justified? Certainly no one wants to live in a police state, but we need some level of police, especially in areas of high crime. holy hyperbole batman It's hard to have rational conversation when you go right to insane claims like this one.
You're way more likely to get killed by a police officer than blown up by a terrorist in this country. That was my point.
Not really. Can you at least acknowledge we have a policing problem in this country? We see people murdered at the hands of trigger happy, vicious cops like last night in Baton Rouge way too often.
Can you acknowledge that we don't know what happened based on the video? If the guy was reaching for a gun the shooting was justified, wasn't it?
We live in a Gangland State, folks. Gang warfare is a far bigger threat to Americans than any terrorist organization. _
Thankfully in this case we have body cameras on the cops. So if they straight murdered the guy they should go to prison and throw away the key. All cops should wear them. edit: crap - just read they fell off in the tussle. they also have survelience video from the convenient store.
Fixed. Easily 2 of the worst things happening in our Country. Killing children and the innocent bystanders.
