ESPN is saying the Bulls, Raptors, Spurs, and Wolves are in the sweepstakes for Gasol. I'm a Gasol fan and would like to see him win one more before he retires. I think he got a raw deal in LA and was underappreciated. Realistically his best shot to win is with the Spurs. Blazers are years away and the Bulls and Wolves are going to be bad.
Underappreciated by the Lakers or him in general? The most spoken narrative of those Lakers teams was that Gasol was the reason those teams won. Wasn't that team barely in playoff contention before he was traded to them?
What about Kobe/Shaq/Malone/Glove and their failure to win a title? Although they were an older group.
Probably, but somehow it's worse. KD ran his ass to a team that absolutely didn't need him in order to hide from the pressure of being the face of the franchise. Sad day for Thunder fans.
This is why the NBA sucks and has sucked for years. The stars all collude and end up on the same handful of teams. There is no competitive balance. Only a handful of teams have a chance to win a title. Three quarters of the draft is meaningless. Is is a complete shit show where out of 32 teams, the fans are forced to care about 6-7 players and 3-4 teams and the rest of the league is the Washington Generals (for those who remember - the opponent that the Harlem Globetrotters played and beat as they toured the world) for those teams.
No he didn't. Lebron built that Heat team. Durant is joining a championship team which is pathetic. Even if Durant wins a championship with the Thunder it won't be because of him. They won 73 games without him. Won a title without him. Him being a great player for an already championship team without him doesn't create a championship legacy for him. They were already favorites to win the title. Lebron was simply criticized for not being able to assemble a championship team for his team and going to another team in conjunction with other great players. That is entirely different than what Durant has done and Durant will be criticized even more so.
How did he build it. Wade was already there. He just convinced Bosch to join him. That's "building" a team? Making a phone call and saying "why don't me and you go to Miami and play with Wade?"
Well this sucks. Spurs will have a shot in the West but will anyone else? Will be a very boring year because who's beating Cleveland in the East. Zzzzzz. Wake me up in June.
The Stars didn't collude in this instance. The Warriors simply had cap space and Durant has no backbone.
And Wade was struggling to make the playoffs in recent years. Bosh and Lebron joining made them a Championship team. Are you arguing Lebron wasn't instrumental in making that happen?
