I think it's the other way around. This suspension could have been much worse based on the disciplinary codes in the CBA. The NFL seems to have interpreted the offenses as mildly as they could and so Richardson is getting 1 game instead of the 4 to 6 that seemed likely a week ago. If Richardson doesn't understand that he whistled by the graveyard on this one, well Josh Gordon is the poster boy for what happens to you then.

I suspect that everybody involved on Richardson's side, from his reps to his family, have been all over him about staying clean and getting to that second contract without further problems. I'm pretty sure the Jets have talked to him about it also.

I guess I'm in the minority here but 4 or 6 games would've seemed extreme to me. He was only even charged with reckless driving. 4 to 6 games for reckless driving? come on now.

Say what you want about having the kid in the car and reeking of weed, he's a jackass I know, but hey if the police didn't feel the need to charge him for it, it would've seen pretty stupid, in my opinion, for dictator Goodell to rule on that. 1 game seems about right to me

This should have been the punishment.

He's in the drug program. He's on stage two of the program, having already received a 4 game suspension for weed with the next suspension being a season and application for readmission.

He's very lucky that the NFL didn't interpret the policeman's comments and Richardson's failure to report the incident until after the weed testing window had closed as a suspension worthy offense under that regime.

I'm guessing that the reason he got off lightly is that Goodell and the NFL are still smarting from the Brady reversal and ongoing legal action. They just didn't want to have the fight right now, particularly when Brady and the Pats would benefit again from the action.

I guess I'm behind on the NFL testing policies over the past few years but can you explain the bolded part?

Oh, I'm sorry, I thought you were talking about policy and not just the drugs leaving his system.

Yeah, I've spoken to med techs that believe THC can leave the system of a person who isn't an habitual user in less than a month. I doubt a guy whose car reeks of weed is an occasional user.

So your window theory is flawed.

What will our d-line look like game 1 against the Bungles if Mo holds out? Leonard and the new nose tackle of course. Who fills the 3rd roll? I know we got a cpl lineman laying around playing Madden but I'm not sure who they are.

Jarvis Jenkins is a decent player that can hold his own

Either way I wouldn't expect Wilk to hold out

What does Mo have to gain by holding out of regular season games? The Jets can't extend him after July 15 even if they wanted to. All he'd be doing is voluntarily giving up game checks, which are essentially $1 million each.

Anything after 7 days gave him a shot at not testing positive in the urine test. Shaving his head would have resolved the hair problem.

I'm sure to have that much pot in your car, you ain't smoking once and just once. He's been smoking weed constantly. Shocked he hasn't gotten caught as many times as Josh Gordon.

Yeah absolutely nothing. Player holdouts rarely, if ever, work out to a players advantage. Not only do they look like a malcontent, but they end up out of shape, playing below their expected output, and it can often lead to torn up knees and shoulders. He has $15 million reasons to suit up.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't really get why players are often so appalled by the franchise tag. They all want guaranteed money, and even after shelling out these huge $100 million figures there's usually only about 60% of the contract guaranteed. Franchise tags fully guarantee a players deal. Take the money in your prime and run, boys.

Also imagine you're smoking for the first time in a while? I'm sure Br4d was in the same room with a marijuana joint at least once in the past 60 years, but I doubt he's smoked it more than once in that time span.

I don't even care of you're smoking the peppy 'dro that roidheads at Venice Beach smoke, if it's totally out of your system and you smoke it first the first time in a while, it will totally wreck your judgment and reaction time, and you'd be lucky to drive 70mph without wrecking, much less 143 fucking mph.

Br4d is good at posting charts and making 500 year old analogies, but he's fucking clueless in this argument.

Well he probably only smokes every once in a while but goes all in on smoking an ounce in that one sitting with his 12 year old nephew. Duh.
