No no no but he's REALLY matured this year. Seriously. And he's better at reading defenses. Oh yeah, and he knows the offense. Lol. The dude is a low IQ player at the most important position in all of sports. _
+10000 Whats the point of rational discussion when you are up against: Folie à deux (/fɒˈliəˈduː/; French pronunciation: [fɔli a dø]; French for "madness of two"), or shared psychosis, is a psychiatric syndrome in which symptoms of a delusional belief and hallucinations[1][2] are transmitted from one individual to another ahaaha
But dudes here who don't live within 1000 miles of Florham Park will tell you to a certitude that he's "matured". _
They didn't say exactly the same stuff last year, but even if they did, all that shows is that he is continuing to learn and improve. He's only what, 24 or 25? Were you a finished product at that age? Did you know everything you needed to? Were you mature and have your shit together? Hopefully, you're still learning and growing. Even if he isn't the sharpest pencil in the box, he might be able to improve enough to be just as effective as Fitz for one year. I have said that he was going to be a world beater. Fitz is a JAG. I do believe that Geno is capable of reaching Fitz' level of play and quite possibly surpassing it somewhat. With our D and the offensive weapons we have, that could be enough. The only thing that the fact that he forgot down and distance doesn't prove your point. It only proves that he's human, wasn't poised and in control. I guess it's irrelevant to you that he was in a new offense, wasn't able to practice for the entire TC, and once the season began he probably got very few snaps, before having to enter the game cold and play. So he made one or two boneheaded plays. Big effing deal. He also was about the only Jet who played hard, and in spite of having no practice, having little or no timing or chemistry with his receivers, threw for 25o yards and a TD or two. I'm not speculating. You're the only one who is doing that. I'm sure I could probably find at least one person from your past that said you were a real dumbass and jerk too, and maybe more than one. So what that person says is meaningless. Again, what Gailey thinks is much more important than what anyone else thinks, and Gailey likes him and believes in him. You can be delusional and think you know more than Gailey if you want, but don't expect me or others to join you in your delusional world. I have clearly said that I may be wrong, and that he may still fail, but he has definitely shown improvement. I won't speculate on why you don't or won't accept and believe that, but guess it doesn't fit your agenda. Your comments about Geno's stats clearly demonstrate how ignorant you are. You speak as if it's impossible for him to learn and grow. You speak as if Mornhinweg's and Gailey's systems are identical and as if the offensive talent around Geno then and now are identical. You speak as if all players in the NFL ought to come in day one and know everything and play at a high level, and they can't improve with better coaching and systems that are better-suited to their talents. It's clear that your mind is closed and you think you know it all, so further discussion is futile and a waste of time and energy. I'd be willing to bet that you have been every bit as big a jerk and said and done things every bit as stupid as Geno in your lifetime, perhaps in the job you have now and maybe with your wife, yet you still have your job and your wife in all likelihood. I'm thankful that the Jets' braintrust isn't as closed minded and ignorant as you. That doesn't mean that Geno won't still fail. He very likely could, but it's in all of our best interests that he gets a chance to show whether he has truly learned and improved, or if he is just a mental midget. I'm sorry that you can't see that.
To begin with, I don't read Mehta or put any stock in anything he says. If you do, then that speaks volumes about your perspective. In addition, everything is relative. Compared with 2013-2014, Geno probably was much more mature last year, but that doesn't mean that's it, that he is a finished product and can't possibly mature more. I strongly doubt that you were as mature at 24 or 25 as you are now, and you aren't as mature now as you will be in another 5-10 years. I do trust the Jets' staff and front office. If they bring back Fitz, I'll trust that they believed they had to, regardless of whether or not it's on a reasonable deal or a big deal. I have my preferences, but ultimately, I believe in Mac. Fitz may not be willing to come back, however. In addition, if Bowles can be trusted, he has said on numerous occasions that the Jets have a cut off date for Fitz, and that if he hasn't re-signed by then, they will move on. If they aren't able to bring him back, I trust that Mac will secure another veteran QB,if at all possible, to compete with or back up Geno if they don't think Petty or Hack are up to it.
Is Steve Serby better? http://nypost.com/2015/08/02/why-geno-smith-is-so-convinced-this-year-will-be-different-for-him/ Or Sporting News? http://www.sportingnews.com/nfl/new...arterback-receiver/1ux8es4a4l7j71379frzjznp5t Of course this time could be different and Geno could be a changed man. But no talk about it will convince me; I will continue to doubt Geno unless he proves me wrong. As far as trust goes, if Fitz doesn't come back, I'll trust that the staff realized that it wasn't worth it. My position has never been that we should cave right now and give Fitz what he wants. But deals typically get done as the deadline nears, and I'm willing to wait another couple weeks for something to get done.
"I disagree with you about a quarterback in football so you must be terrible at your job and a woman beater. Thankfully the Jets aren't stupid woman beaters like you. You could end up being right when its all said and done though." haha okay then
Read much? That's not what I said at all. He's attempting to make the point that Geno is a finished product and stupid and can't learn or improve. In return, I tried to help him see that isn't necessarily true. We all have made stupid mistakes at jobs or in relationships, and that didn't necessarily mean that we were stuck, couldn't learn or shouldn't ever get opportunities to learn and grow from those mistakes. The intelligence level and reading comprehension in some posters on this site is sadly lacking.
Oh no I was put on Ignore a while ago when the blow hard was spewing some nonsense about how Hack was phenomenal as a freshman and all his other problems were someone else's fault and then had to admit he'd never actually seen Hack play, but that my eyewitness opinions were worth less than his because he read an article and watched a YouTube video. _
You gotta stop making shit up. For real. Remind me of how he couldn't read a defense last year. Wait, in his one game against Oakland (who was actually decent last year), he completed 64.3% of his passes, 265 yards, 2 TDs and only 1 INT. He also rushed twice for 34 yards. Shit, we were in that game until Bowles threw it away. And that interception was a fucking hell of a play by Woodson, closing that gap that fast. Anyone who watched that game should have been able to tell that he's drastically improved over his first two years.
huh??? setting aside the fact that it was just 1 game and wouldn't be indicative of "drastic improvement" anyway............we must've been watching another game completely because I wasn't impressed with Geno Smith's performance in that Raiders game at all. He showed the same lack of awareness he's had his whole career by cluelessly taking his time and dumping the ball off with his team down multiple TDs. Shit I would hope he completed 64% of his passes! He was down 34-13 and he's throwing 5 yard outs with the defense back in prevent. come on man.. he's probably improved some from his rookie year I mean he would have to. And I'm not even a Geno hater I'm absolutely willing to listen to the idea of rolling with him for cheap, but pointing to that Oakland performance? I mean really? Its almost like I wasn't sure if you were being serious or not. that oakland game that was in the bag by the third quarter shows "drastic improvement" from Smith? are you messing with us?
Geno made plays all game, was dealing with his top two receivers being injured all game, a RB who decided to not show up, and an o-line that played like crap. The defense sucked. Geno's stats that game are nothing short of a miracle given what he had to work with.
Edit sorry bud was upset with NCJet just saw the date on the articles. That just proves my point. Dude again you are taking Geno's word on why he will be better or the players that are without a vet reliable qb that don't want to shit on the dude. Geno should. I have pointed out he has not changed in 10 yrs but he will change over night.......in one offseason....... Pass what ever you are smoking around because as much as I would like to believe all signs point to him not changing. The best hope is the staff can limit his liabilities while trying to play to his strength the issue is his strength is his arm but you need to be able to read defenses and find open receivers which is is liability.
NCJet ...Bite me dude my mind is closed and I am a jerk.... sticks and stone I think you have limited decision making skills like Geno and is unable to have a rational discussion while trying to value someone's point when presented with evidence rather then trying to shit on them. I am done with you it is obvious you have some social handicap that means you must think you are always right even when presented with evidence you are wrong.
like forgetting down and distance and running out of bounds when he shouldn't have or taken that sack. What is a miracle is that he was not cut after getting his jaw broken
