Elliot to the Flames is a move I don't get. The Blues were so close last year. Now trade Elliot. I think Backes and Brouwer are free agents. They could go from the brink of a Cup to just happy to make the playoffs. Disappointing. The Caps traded for Lars Eller. He is not great, but I think he is an upgrade over Mike Richards centering the 3rd line.
They believe Jake Allen is the future and Elliot is 32 with one year left on his deal so I believe that was the logic. Habs replaced Eller with Andrew Shaw. Austin Matthews first overall to Leafs, Patrick Laine to Winnipeg, Dubois to the Jackets in kind of a surprising pick.
Yeah, I get the thought process for St. Louis, but mine is that you are THIS CLOSE to a cup and Elliot gives you a better chance to win it than Allen. You guys remember how much it annoyed me when they benched Elliot despite the fact that it was offense that was sucking against the Sharks in the WCF. That move cost them in my opinion and this trade will too. We will see I guess.
Agreed. Can't believe they took Dubois instead. Now we gotta flip Hopkins and Eberle for Defense, no brainer. Heard Shattenkirk and Dumba are on the block. Stamkos is free to negotiate with anyone. Heard Detroit is in the mix now.
With Las Vegas coming in as an expansion team after next season , teams will only be able to protect one goalie. So in that case it makes sense to get something for Elliott now , but still they could've waited to the trade deadline cause Im not sold on Jake Allen being able to start 65-70 games and be successful either. I agree though , the timing of it is what I dont understand. Its not like Calgary gave up an insanely high pick for him either where the Blues wouldn't have been able to turn it down.

Unreal trade for the Devils. Larsson has gotten better but damn Shero fleeced the Oilers. Finally we get dug out of the Parise/Kovalchuk era. Free agency will be exciting on Friday with these recent moves.
It fills a need for them but I think they def could've gotten more for Hall. Did their GM not call up Montreal for Subban? I guess Canadian teams just dont want to trade with each other. Devils benefitted from that when they got Schneider too when the Nucks GM didnt want to send him to Edmonton for a higher pick than what the Devils gave up. Its silly.
They'll probably pickup a FA Dman but Larsson will play 1st line minutes for them next season either way. Plus Lucic going there is pretty much a done deal.
Heard they are talking to Jason Demers as well, which is cool. I just wanted something better for Hall but I guess Larsson hasn't hit his ceiling yet. Wouldnt mind an Eberle for Shattenkirk swap.
Devils could target Demers as well. Wherever he goes he will be overpaid. Shattenkirk would be a very nice addition. Wonder if EDM would want to ship out another proven forward so quickly though. Eberle is actually a guy I was hoping NJ would target. But I'll "settle" for Hall
